Apple Talk.
We clip the foll,:witlg from the Blyth
Standard: Oanada's apple crop is bo.
ginning to, assume very large propor-
tions. Last year almost half a million
of barrels were exported from this
country—.alinost had as many as was
exported from the United States while
this year Canaria bids fair to eclipse
our neighbors In cue week 47,000
barrels were shipped from the port of
Montreal for Great Britain,and during
the same week only 22,900 trout Bos-
ton and New York for the Carni, destin-
ation. Tho apple crop in this section
hes also been very large and is begin
ning to be quite a source of income to
our farmers. It is unfortunate that
many of thele in planting out their,
orchards choose trees whish bear early
fall fruit in place of a winter variety
which is always a good seller as well
as a good keeper.. if farmers were to
turn their attention more to fruit cul-
ture than heretofore, it would be to
their advantage, but they should be
very cautious' in their selections of.
tees and give the early fruit t.hegu-by.
