Following the supper slide pictures of activities at Huronvipw were shown in the auditorium. Seventy students of the Hullett Central School visited the home on Friday afternoon and presented a Christmas program. The musical part of the program was provided by Grades 3 & 4 under the direction of their teacher, Mrs, Livermore. Mrs. Bosman provided the piano accompaniment and directed the Grade 6 folk dancing. Mrs. 'Youngblutt expressed the appreciation of the residents for the en- joyable afternoons entertainment. A number of residents from North Wing were taken for a drive by members of the Clinton Kinette Club on Friday evening to view the Christmas lights in the Clinton area. The annual pre Christmas visit. of tae Seaforth Lions Club which is looked forward to with a great deal Of interest by the residents took place on Sunday afternoon. A chorus of thirty members of the club led by Jim Stewart sang a number of carols with the audience joining-in. There were musical and dance numbers by the McQuaid family and bagpipe selections by Peter Malcolm and Nelson Howe. President Brian Flannigan brought greet- ings from the Lion% and introduced Irvine Johnson, chair- man for the afternoon. Administrator, C.A.Archibald, thanked the club for arranging the fine program and for the gift of fruit to be divided among the residents. It was standing room only on Tuesday afternoon for the residents Christmas party. The administrator, C,A. Archibald was chairman for the cone and also read two Christmas poems that had been w en by Mr. Leishman. The program included a mixed chorus of residents sing- ing carols; Miss Gidley accompanied the vocal trio, Helen Fisher, Ileen McEwen, Irene Cole; a vocal solo by Morgan Dalton; readings by Alice Buchanan, Agnes Douglas, Mrs. J. Rutledge,. Mrs. Davis and Mr. Bob Rutledge; and in- strumentals by ,the orchestra and rhythm band. Mrs. Sperling narrated the story of "The Old Fashioned Christ- mas" with the various parts taken by Mrs. Lamb, Ray Maize, Gladys Staulake, George Nicholson, Jerry Collins. Following a visit from Santa Claus everyone gathered in the dining area for a Christmas supper. Tables had been arranged for 200 at one sitting with a special menu and decorations for the occasion prepared by the kitchen staff. The Blyth Public School entertained the residents on Wednesday afternoon with Jim Laurie as master of cere- monies. Principal, Mrs. Mickit directed the choir of 65 students in several Christmas numbers assisted by the music supervisor, Mrs. Phyllis Rogers and Graham Yates who also arranged the square dancing numbers by eight students . A gift of money donated by the students to buy treats for the residents was presented with Mrs. Cartwright thanking those responsible for the gift and the program on behalf of the residents. The Calvinettes, a group of young people aged 10 to 16 from the Blyth Christian Reform Church provided the Family Night program. Mrs. Bakelaar , leader of the group, showed a film strip entitled "Son of the Virgin" which told the story of ChristmaS in many lands as well as the origin of many of the carols. 45 Young people sang the carols as they related to the story. Volunteer Harvey Howard called on Mrs. Valkenburg who expressed the thanks of the residents .for the very appropriate pre Christmas program. Mrs. Harold Cole- man read the $ cripture lesson, the Chaistmas story from 2nd. of Luke . Keith Sharp read a poem •en Your Hearts" and folloae•i with prayer. Mrs. W.J. Thompson and Mrs. Elmer Rivers are to be the Key Women for the Worlds Day of Prayer in First Church, Seaforth. The meeting closed with a hymn and prayer by Mrs. Rivers. Kilbarchan notes By Mabel Turnbull This Advent season at Kil- barchan has been fairly buzzing with activities. Last week the Annual Christmas staff party was held in the Orange Hall with Mr. ani Mrs.liodgert as hosts. Hus- bands aid friends of staff mem- bers were invited. Gifts were exchanged and everyone reported a merry time. Wed. evening, Mr. and Mrs. Hodgert chartered two buses and took the ill-lappy Citizens" and a averal patients on a trip to London and vicinity to see the Christmas lighting and decorations in that area. These were enhanced by a thick blanket of fresh snow. On their return the Legion ladies served a delicious lunch at the Legion Hall. T.C. Mullhoiland was unable to take our bi-weekly church , service .on Wednesday owing to illness. Rev. Ure Stewart substituted and after reading the sea,a,ire of the Christmas story, showed coloured films of Autumn scenes including Ben Miller and Hunts: ville, Muskoka which were very much enjoyed. The Girl Guides called Wed- nesday evening with their leader, Mrs. Arnold Stinnissen, who has devoted much time and energy to this worthy cause. The girls sang carols which were much en- joyed by all. They sang with a beautiful full tone.
