Dublin school prepares
W.I. Notes
for Christmas
Mrs. Elden Kerr was hostess
.for the Christmas meeting of
Seaforth W.I. when Rev. and
Mrs. [ire Stewart,. as guest
speakers, reviewed the 1967
centennial year with Slides and
comntentary,
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart
showed. slides -'of many in-
terest'l ing happenings and
projects of that year; local civic
and church • scenes and the
damaging spring tornado, as
well as scenes from many
places they had: visited, in-
clu'ding Elmira, Guelph,
Goderich, Windsor, Niagara
Falls and others. They were in-
troduced and thanked by Mrs.
Lorne Carter, who chaired the
program which was arranged
by herself and Mrs. Elden
Kerr.
Mrs. Kerr read a story -The
Legend of the Christmas Tree'',
and Mrs. Mary Haugh took the
motto on "Christmas
Thoughts". touching on
various customs and throughts,
The roll call "A Christmas
Verse'' was answered by about
2t1 members Mrs, Carter also
read a poem "Christmas Time
Is'',
The business was chaired by
first vice president, Mrs. Ar-
nold Taylor. who was also co-
hostess. Communications in-
cluding Christmas greetings
from district 'mlches, Dash-
wood, Crediton, Hensall, K ip-
pen, Elimi ille, Grand Rend
and Zurich; also letters from
the War MemOrial Children's
Hospital, the Canadian Mental
Health Association and the On-
tario Ministry of Natural
Resources. It was decided
unanimously to hold the
balance of the winter meetings
in the afternoon.
Santa's helpers, Mrs. Lorne
Carter and Mrs. Harold Hugill,
distributed gifts to everyone,
and courtesy remarks were
made by Mrs. Carter. Lunch
was convened by Mrs. Lorne
Lawson, Mrs. Harold Hugill
and Mrs. Frank Hunt.

from University hospital in
London where he spent the last
couple of weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Greg, Wickwire
who have been living in Win-
nipeg are visiting at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Geo. Goettler for a few days
before going to Toronto where
Mr. Wickwire has been tran-
sferred.

recently honouring Mrs.
Penelope Fell on her 430tb bir-
thday.
Mr. Jim Hawes, Moose Jaw,
Saskatchewan and Mr. Filmer
Chappei visited recently with
Mr. and Mrs. Cameron
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Smale,
Helen, Marion and Bill left
Friday for a winter holiday in
the sunny south.
Mrs. Frank Miller is a
patient in St. Joseph Hospital,
London having undergone
surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. David Capling,
London visited Monday
evening with Mr. and Mrs.
John Templeman and family.
A large number from this
community attended the con-
cert of Christmas music by the
Mitchell High School glee club
held in the High School
auditorium Sunday evening.
Poplar and white birch are
frequently the first trees to grow
in burned over areas.
The Christian Women's Club Song Service was held
In the' chapel on Sunday evening, led by Mrs. Lifter of
Hensall. Taking part in the service were; Mrs. Cliff
Britton, devotions; Mr. Luther, organist, readings by Mrs.
Russell Erratt, and vocal duets by Mrs. Luther and MrS.
Britton, with everyone joining in the singing of Christ-
mas Carols.
There were nine tables of euchre and crokinole played •
on Wednesday afternoon, which is games day at Buron-
view.
Talent for the Family Night program this week came
from the Clinton, Londesboro, and Summerhill area.
Susan Van Egmond and Karen Farquar sang several duet
numbers, accompanied at the piano by Gladys Van Eg-
mond. Ann Snell contributed vocal solos with Louise
Lovett providing the piano accompaniment for Ann as well
as piano instrumentals. Mrs. Van Egmond played Christ-
mas Carols with the four girls leading the singing along
with the audience.
