Carrying on a traditon es-
tablished several years ago pup-
ils of one of the schools of the
Huron Perth Roman Catholic area
present a Christmas program at
Merry Mount Home in London.
This year the program, which
is co-ordinated by John B. Mc-
Carroll the physical education
consultant and public relations
director for the Board, was pre-
sented by the pupils of St. Marys
School, Hesson.
Mary Beth Runstedler a grade
7 student in the school tells the
' story of the visit.
(by Mary Beth Runstedler)
For the first time in the his-
tory of St. Mary's School, Hes-
son, the pupils of grades seven
and eight were,. asked tout on
a "show" for the orphans at
Merrymount Home in London.
is our objective to chang
name, 1, erryrnount' •to
"Merrymo " th ight of
Thursday DeCeM ee 14, 1972.
At -ven o'clock we begin
our pr gram with a'play and pr-
ceed ith a gymnastic display
of log rolls, egg rolls, front
rolls, back rolls,. headstands,
and handstands and cart wheels.
After demonstrating how to do
different things we will ask some
of the sixty members of our
audience to try to do it also.
Our program will end with Mr.
McC arroll's balloon game, a visit
from Santa Claus, and some crew-.. •
tive dancing:., , , , , .
How did these visits begin?
They originated in 1960. when
Mr. McCarroll's grade eight
clats asked him if they could
adopt a Korean child. By work-
, ing together in shows and plays
they reached their goal. This
sent them to thinking, if we
could adopt a Korean child, why
not adopt a Canadian child? Be-
