But five-year-old Randy has cerebral palsy (loss of muscle control) which handicaps him to some extent. Only Randy's right side is aftheted, He has near-normal use of the leg, being able to walk, run and climb. Though the use of his right hand is restricted, it is improving steadily. Randy has had physi4herapY for a year and now does exercises in his foster home. He is expected to improve still further as he continues the exercises. Tall for his age, this lad is Anglo-Saxon In descent. He has light brown, hair, blue eyes and fair skin. In his early life Randy's potential was underestimated and he was registered in a special nursery school for re- tarded children. On his first day allthe staff and the school psychologist decided he • did not belong there so he was transferred to a regular nursery school . He is now in kindergarten, which he loves. . Randy is, a 'lively boy who makes no concession to his handicap in his choice of activities. He likes to be on the.. go and wants to do whatever other children are doing. In- geniously designed games help his handicapped areas. Cheerful and co-operative, Randy tries hard to please. Randy need s loving parents who will provide him with stimulation, understanding and the encouragement to surmount his handicap. It will be good if lie can have older brothers and sisters to take an interest in him and for him to imitate. To inquire about ,adopting Randy, please write to Today's Child, Box 888, Station K, •Toronto. For 'general adoption • information, please contact your local Children's Aid Society. by ANGUS SHORTT Ducks Unlimited 01 YELLOW RAIL — This small brown and yellow bird with short, chicken-like bill, is, like our other rails, very secretive, haunting the shallow, grassy borders of marshes . and rarely taking wind. Plumage in both sexes is similar;, the upper parts light brown, the back with prominent dark stripes which are crossed by fine white lines, the under- parts yellowish with dark barrin on the ab- domen and under-tail coverts. In flight the white wing-patch is a good field mark. The Yellow Rail is active at night. Its peculiar "tick-tick, tick-tick- tick", call, closely resembling the sound of two small stones tapped together, will reveal its presence. 112I -'n • 6 ------WEEK-END SPECIAL THROWAWAY POP SINGLE 29c 4 for 894 SEAFORTH`S SHORT ORDER MARKET NOW C YEARS IS OLD WE HAVE:-- --Bartliff's Bakery Products --L'eggs ,Panty Hose --Toys, Cards,' Groceries --Christmas Cards,' Wrappings, Ornaments --Gifts, Pottery --Candy - COME TO BOB & BETTY'S Main Street -- Seaforth .-NOMOMMSWASINNUMMENNWOMMUMENAKOWIM, 04 ' n • C For HER: DRESSES Festive long & short dresses in crepes, fort- rels and sheers.
