Prepare snowmobiles
for busy winter season
Organization provides assistance
Snowmobile time is here
again, and, according to the
service people, now is the time
to start getting that snowmobile
in shape for the coming season.
Here's what the""' service
engineers recommend you do be-
fore you take that snowmobile
out this year:
First, flush out the fuel tank,
clean it thoroughly and then refill
with a fresh mixture of_gasoline
and oil. Regular gasoline works
best in snowmobile engines.
Second, run the engine at low
speed .until it has warmed up.
Then, if necessary, adjust. the
carburetor.
Third, lubricate all wear
points but be careful not to spill
grease or oil on belts or the
track. The lubricants can
damage these parts.
Fourth, check the tension on
drive track and drive chain and
adjust if necessary. Also check
track alignment and' adjust this,
too, if it is required.
Fifth, check the ski align-
ment. Skis should be parallel, • or slightly toed-in.
Do all that--it won't take
long--and your machine will be
ready for another season of fun
and excitement on the trail.
A new organization to safe-
guard the safety and welfare of
the snowmobiler has been formed
in Ontario.
It goes by the name of the
Ontario Snowmobile Distributors
Association, and is made up of
the companies who manufacture
and distribute more than twenty
leading brands of snowmobiles,
including all of the big names
in the snowmobile business.
The new association, has been
formed to serve the best int-
erest of all groups concerned
- with snowmobiling, including
snowmobile owners. and operat-
ors, equipment manufacturers,
distributors and dealers, and the
public at large.
Its first objective is to
establish close relationships with
federal and provincial govern-
ments and with snowmoblie re-
search, safety and educational
organizations.
trWe are all naturally opposed
to the snowmobiling minority who
cause annoyance and damage,
and are responsible for the maj-
ority of accidents," declared
president Tom McAleese.,,How-
ever the member companies of
the association have a direct
and vital interest in any activi-
ties detrimental to the pleasures
of snowmobiling. Obviously such
activities will eventually effect
the future sale of snowmobiles.
We have, therefore, formed this
association to develop effective
programs promoting safety
where snowmobiles are con-
cerned, and to support and give
leadership to other groups with
similar objectives."
Don't Be
Careless
A snowmobile can open new
worlds in the. winter, but be
sure that carelessness doesn't
spoil your fun in the snow.
