You don't have to
own 'the farm to be
a successful farmer
Om on. ••• and have a.good life
But you need training
Farming is big business today.
On large Ontario farms there's a constant need
for agricultural workers. But it's not the
old-fashioned "Hired-Hand" life anymore. It's
a well-paying lifetime career with rich bene-
fits for the person who enjoys working with
livestock, crops and machinery. And it's a
healthy life.-- especially for a growing
family who can count on accommodation, food
and a less frustrating pape of life.
To train men for this career, a ten week
course to upgrade agricultural knowledge and
skills is being offered at the KEMPTVILLE
COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY beginning
January 8, 1973.
To qualify you must be at least 18 years of
age; 1, year out of school with a functional
Grade 8 'education, and be approved by a
selection committee.
Also available are training alldwances which
can total up to $113 weekly for a man with 4
,dependants, if approved by ARDA and Canada
Manpower.

What is
Home Care?
Borne Care Is Hospital Patient Care provided at home
to selected patients under the direction of the attee.da
leg physician.
During the past year Home Care has become avail-
able to all the residents of Huron County.
Herne Care is provided (a) In lieu of hospital care,
or (b) to allow a patient to leave hospital earlier, if
adequate services are available to provide tiie neces-
r" sary care,
By allowing patients to remain at home or to leave
hospital earlier, they can recover or convalesce in their
own familiar surroundings where the patient is often
more content.
The Home Care Program is administered by the
Huron County Health Unit and financed by the Depart-
ment of Health.
, Admission to Home Care -is arranged by the patient's
Family Physician and any medical condition may be cared
for, as long as adequate services are available to pro-.
vide the care required.
Home Care is a Rehabilitation program and patients
are accepted with the expectation that they will achieve
a position of independence within 30 days.
-. There is no age limit, but, patients must be In need
of a professional service, such as Nursing or Physio-
therapy. If one of these services is needed, other ser-
vices such as homemaking laboratory and x-ray, dres-
sings and drugs, pertaining to the patients medical con-
dition, can be provided.
The patient and their families must be willing to
participate in the .Home Care. Program. The patient's
family and friends, if willing, help to provide the day to
day care of the patient with the Home Care Program
providing the Nursing and phySiotherapy services and
homemaking, if It is required.
Homemaking services are provided according to the
personal needs of the patient, such as help with bathing
and dressings, help with walking and meals. The home-
maker is also allowed to do the necessary household
tasks that are necessary In relation to the care of the
patient. Home making is only provided when no member
of the family is available to provide the care required
and the amount of time may vary from a few hours to a
maximuni-of 8 hours, Monday to Friday.
During the 'Test year, 181 patients received Home Care, Of these, 151 patients received Nursing Care,
101 patients received Homemaking and 34 patients re-
ceived Physiotherapy.
The services are provided according to the needs so
that a patient may receive a combination of these ser-
vices.
As Home Care Is at present an Active Rehabilitation
program with expectations of recovery within 30 days,
tiler° is still a need for help in providing adequate care,
sb that patients with a longstanding condition,--such as
arthritis or heart disease could receive enough care to
remain at home.
Perhaps, in the future, this care will become avail-
able.for these patients.
THE MARSH SLEEPS - Blanketed With snow, the
marsh with all its essential ingredients "sleeps"
through winter. Beneath the snow, ice and frozen
mud, the seeds, rootstocks, and•dormant aquatic
life await the'coming, of spring. Many Marshes
depend entirely on a good run-off arid later rains
to maintain them throughout summer. Ducks
Unlimited has safeguarded hundreds of marshes
against drought, insuring that they will maintain
permanent water to attract waterfowl and other
wildlife, while creating valuable . hayland and
improved grazing for livestock.
