TAL-K ABOUT:,

THIS WEEK'S LETTER: I
• have this big problem! I've been
going with this guy for almost
two years now. We had a lot of
understanding until recently.
Everytime he comes home from
school we go out. He asked me to
marry him, and I haven't, given
him a definite answer, because he
• also asked this other girl to marry
him! He has asked both of us! So.
I've almost made up my mind to
let the other girl have him. I feel
that he doesn't want me. Every-
time he writes me, he's"always
saying ,that I've said this or that,
or that I've done something
wrong. I' think he's trying to find
• fault in me, so he'll have some-
thing to talk about. I don't want
to give him ,up, but what should I
do. • PRESS SERVICE, FRANKFORT, KY. 40601.
OUR REPLY: It should be ob-
vious to you what is happening.
Open your eyes. Your relationship
is deteriorating with him, and
probably through no fault of your
own. He's changed and that's not .
unusual, it's just a fact of grow-
ing up. Don't-hold on to him, just
because at one time the two of
you had a great relationship go-
ing. Face the facts, look at your
relationship now. You don't have
the understanding anymore, he's
trying to find faults in you, and
he wants to marry another girl.
We suggest you give up old mem-
ories, and start again today to
look elsewhere for a more re-
warding relationship.
If you have a teenage problem you want

PUNCH- LINE
OF THE WEEK
Also, part of the programme
was to get the feel of the ,cul-
tural life in Toronto. -Various
suggestions were made, but one I
particularly enjoyed was gbing
to Kensington Market. Every
week we had "Eat Outs" and
enjoyed food from Indo-
Pakistani, Chinese, French and
Italian restaurants in the city.
By the sound of things, Vicki
had a great summer and will
greatly •profit. from her ex-
periences.
Summer revived
Each summer a student. IS
chosen from secondary schools
showing particular interest in
Film Arts, to take a month long
course in Toronto., The .course,
sponsored by the Province of
Ontario Council for the Arts
went from July 20th to August
29th and was held at the Neill-
Wysik College in Toronto. This
year, Vicki Miller, a Grade 13
student, was chosen to represent
Seaforth. SelOw is a report
Vicki wrote on her experiences
this summer.
"There were 8 boys and 4
girls from ages 17 - 20. Qur
leader of the, programme was
Chris Aikenhead, who was un-
der the direction of Ron Evans
from the Province of Ontario
Council for the Arts. Variqus
activities and programs were
set up and' we could choose the
particular area of film-making
we were most intereSted in.
Clarke Mackey, a Toronto film
producer and winner of two Can-
adian film awards, including best
director came , to talk and de-
monstrate to us various aspects
of film making.
At night we would see many
films from the National Film
Board, Ryerson or the film co-op
in Toronto or we got free pass-
es and could go to theatres.
We saw Don Shebib's "Going
Down the Road" and talked with -
him afterwards. we also saw
vaI'ious films of Don Owen and
went to his farm in Markham
for a combination picnic and
film get together. We talked to
various professional lighting,
sound--and-"advertising men. A
major part of the programme was
the production of a 16mm film.,
entirely by the apprentices. We

Its curtain time
Wed. Nov. 15th a recently
released film was shown in the
highschool basement. The film
"A Day In The Life of Ivan
Denisouich" was shown for in-
terested members of the com-
munity in an attempt to organize
a film society for the town. Mr.
Burgess, head • of the English
IF Dept. presented the film and
afterwards there was a dis-
cussion held.
This week, 2 films are being,
screened, "The Rivers" and "In
Cold Blood". 'If Sufficient in-
terest is shown the film society
will run a series of films through-
/to out the winter. This would offer
a badly needed source of enter-
tainment to the surrounding com-
munity.
Both "In Cold Blood" and
"A Day In The Life" were shown
to the English 400 classes. The
Russian novel on which "A Day
IP In The Life of Ivan Denisouich"
was based, was written by Al-
exander Solzhenitsyn, a recent
winner of the Nobel Prize for
literature. The novel is largely
autobiographical, for the author
spent eleven years in work camps
similar to the one depicted in
the 'film. This is the only one
of Solzhenitsyn' s works to be pub-
lished in the Soviet Union. His
other novels have been smuggled
-out of the country and 'widely
read. "In Cold Blood" is an
older film which follows the path
of two ex-convicts, who •merci-
-44 lessly• slaughter a whole family,
steal, and run from their past
only to eventually end up on the
execution block.
with the support of the com-
munity and students it will make
it posbible for more new films
to be shown. Now who can say
"there's nothing to do."
