foods in the diet. The girls, as-
sisted by their leaders made
"Thousand Island Dressings".
On. Tuesday evening, the girls
and their leaders toured the At-
wood Cheese Factory with the
Perth Home Economist, Joanne
Henderson.

piano by Mrs. Elmer Dow, opened
the evening. Mrs. Arthur Kenip
read an address of good wishes
and Edna was assisted by her
sister Janet and Jane McLoed in
opening her gifts: Edna thanked
everyone for the gifts and Invited
everyone to open house at her
Mother's on 'Saturday, October
21st. Court Whist was enjoyed
with prizes awarded to Mrs. Les-
lie Miller and Miss LoisHocking
with Mrs. Ken McLoed the lucky
number winner.

In last week's Expositor there
was an account of a Women's In-
stitute meeting in Staffa in Which
a contest was held to see who
could get the most words out of
the word "Education". The wino•
ner found thirty-one words. A
reader has sent in a list of words
from the same word numbering
160 words and challenges any
one who , wishes to try to beat
this.

Brodhagen Community Hall for
their third 4-H meeting. --
The roll call questfOn was
"What do you' like to eat with
cottage cheese'?" Answers in-
cluded "fruit, applesauce, wal-
dorf salad , jam, salt and pepper
and lettuce.
The group discussed the 'pro-
per home storage of milk and the
use of milk in cooking. •
The girls prepared Cottage
Potato Salad, Peanut Butter
Baked 'Custard and Hot Cocoa.
Flowers were placed on •the
altar of St. Peter's Lutheran
Church by Mr. and Mrs. George
Siemon to celebrate the occasion
of their 50th Wedding Annivers-
ary.
Miss Mary Goodanetz, Toron-
to was a guest of Cheryl and
Mrs. Adeline Bennewies for the'
weekend.
Many from the Brodhagen
area were spectators at Mild-
may, Sunday afternoon when the
Brodhagen Bantams defeated
Mildmay and ,won the W.O.A.A.

turning, Wilfred met Mrs. Ahrens
and they travelled to visit Mrs.

New York and Mr. and Mrs.Har-
old Cosby, atNiagara Falls, Can-
ada. They spent Thanksgiving
weekend with relatives in Bur-
lington.

-dence of Mr. Louis Kramers on
Mill St. formerly occupied by Mr.
and Mrs. Larry Marriott and have
taken possession.

The weather for the past two
or three weeks has beenveryun-
favorable for harvesting of the
bean crop as there.is a large
acreage in this area still in the
fields.

council /
meets
As an accommodation to the
ratepayers' involved, , the
treasurer of Logan has been
accepting tax arrears after they
have been turned in to the
County for collection. In the
future Council has instructed the,
treasurer not to be responsible
for such tax arrears and has
confirmed that all outstanding
taxes must be paid to the County
Clerk's Office, Stratford.
At the October meeting of.
Logan Township Council the
Treasurer was instructed to
apply for subsidy on$113,424.05,
this amount having beeirspent on
roads.sq far this year.
The report oh Branch "C"
of the Northeast Drain having
been previously adopted, the con-
tract was awarded to Roth Drain-
age Ltd. for $3,346.00.
Council agreed to a request
contained in a letter received.
from the Perth County Board of
Education requesting payment of
the 1973 levy pn June 15 and
November 15.
Having been requested to have
the water piped from the Town
of Mitchell for Ritz ,Lutheran
Villa, it was decided to have
R.M.Dawson, P.Eng. examine the
proposal and report back to
Council.
Road Accounts totalling
$7,534.64, General Accounts
amounting' to $4,550.11 and tile
drainage leans of $8,600.00 were
ordered paid.
