Mrs.' Salverda was the bingo-caller for the bingo game that followed. Mrs. George Smith read the address to Doreen and- Sandra Hulley and Nancy-Salverda carried in the lovely gifts that were presented to. Doreen. Dor- een thanked everybody present. Tom Wil- liamson made the presentation of a purse of money on behalf of their friends, eighbours and relatives. Gwdon replied thank- ing everyone. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hulley, Bobby, Sandy, Debbie, Danny and David attended Thanksgiving din- ner with Mr.. and Mrs. Otto Walker, C romarty. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Harris attended the 25th Wedding An- niversary of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harris, Homesville, Saturday ev- ening. Miss Connie Willis, Seaforth spent 'the weekend with Miss Vicky, Harris. " The Galloping Gourmets met at the home of Vickie Harris. The rest of the evening was spent dancing to the music of Ian Wilbee and his orchestra. EXECUTIVE MEETING Mrs. • Walter pewley was in charge of the U.C.W. executive meeting in the church parlour on Wednesday evening with 8 ladies present. • Mrs. W. C. klackwell read the minutes and a discussion follow- ed on the annual Fowl Supper. Bible Society envelopes were giv- en out and thank-you notes read. A $50. donation was voted to the Children's Aid Society. 4H club meets The Walton I “Burger Chefs" met Monday evening at the home of their leader, Mrs. A. Searle. Eight members answered the roll call. Thir club decided to buy menu charts from the Milk Foupdations as proposed by Gail Searle and Kim Humphries. Mrs. G. Watson and Mrs. A. Searle discussed the different types of casseroles and what you could garnish them with, also what is included in the dish. Different types of meat can- -be used in casserole recipes. ' Anne Watson and Kim Hum- phries demonstrated the making of a chicken salad. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Reid spent the Thanksgiving holiday weekend with Mrs. Laura Me- ehan and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ma- chan and girls of Sarnia. Mr. and Mrs. Allan McCall attended the Brown-Middlemiss wedding in Toronto on Saturday and spent the *eekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brown and Jim of Burlington. . ' The ladies of the 17th and Boundary unit are preparing for their bazaar on October 24th. ' Mrs. W. H. Hackwell spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. David Hackwell of. Mr. and Mrs. Graham McCall of Victoria, B.C. visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McCall for a few days. A get- together of the McCall families from Wingham, Brussels, Blyth, Londesboro and Walton gathered at the same home on Wednesday evening. Group 1140 Meeting Ladies aid of First Pres- byterian Church met Tuesday afternoon when there was an -attendance of 39 ladies. ' Mrs. Ed. Andrews, the pres- ident presided and Miss Jean Scott acted as secretary in the absence of Mrs. Reg. Kersalke. Hymns were chosen by Mrs. John McMillan. Mrs. Harold Agar read the scripture and Miss, Jennie Hogg gave a prayer. Dur- ing business plans were Made for the Razaar. a turkey supper Mrs. Frank Kling sang "Did your stop to pray to-day". Rev. T.C. Mulholland introduced the guest speaker, Rev. ,T.E. Han- cock of Egmondville, United Church who showed slides of old and new churches in west- ern Ontario. Mrs. Wilfred Cole- man expressed the thanks orthe group to the speaker and those taking part, and Rev. Mulholland closed the meeting with prayer. Members of Edelweisi Reb- ekah Lodge will actively support the Bio-Chemical Eye Research Program in conjunction with-the University of Toronto. The de- cision was reached at Monday night's meeting with Mrs. Charles Reeves, noble grand, presiding. It is an eye-testing program, so that an eye defect, known as amblyopia (lazy eyes) may be detected in children early. If children under seven years are tested they may be IDO percent cured with proper treatment. A machine to carry out this testing is to be brought to Huron County when the Rebekah and 100F led-. ges in the district support this- worthy cause. As district deputy president for Huron District, Mrs. Keith Sharp will be in charge this year, together with the D.D.P. of the IOOF lodges. Mrs. Lillian Grummett volumteered to re- present Edelweiss Lodge. The staff of Hillcrest Lodge, St. Marys, is to install the of- ficers here at the next regular meeting, October 23rd. Mrs. Den Dennis opened the meeting with a reading,"Work- era with God". "Work, for the night is coming" was sung. Mrs. 1Ik Murray Dennis gave the medi- tation followed with prayer by Mrs. Wm. Roe.. The offering' was received by Mrs. Merton Hackwell and dedicated by Mrs. D. Dennis. A poem entitled, "End of Summer" was given by , Mrs, D. Dennis. "0, Lord 4 of Life, and Love, and Power" was sung. Mrs. Charles McCutcheon gave two short readings, "Wo- men's Life" written in 1898, and "Let's think it over".
