Mrs. McAllister opened the
m eeting with ""Make a Joyful
noise unto the Lord", followed
by prayer. Miss Amy Lammie
gave the devotional with the theme
being "Gratitude" taken from
Luke 17 verses 1.1-19 Were there
not ten cleansed? Where' are
the nine? Miss Lammie said
/that ingratitude is a sin against
God, against Society and against
ourselves.' She concluded with
prayer to melte every day a day
of Thanksgiving. Mrs. Pearl
Shaddick read portions of scrip-
ture from Luke. A piano solo
was contributed by Miss Greta
Laramie. Mrs. Harry Caldwell /gave the study on Africa. The
offering was taken fay Mrs. E.
Rowe, Mrs. L. Purdy and was
dedicated by Mrs. • McAllister.
Letters of thanks, were read from
Mrs. Grace Peck, Mrs. Simmons
and Miss Ellis. The meeting
• closed with the singing of hymn
586 and prayer by Mrs. McAll-
ister. Lunch was served by Mrs.
Pearl Shaddick and her com-
mittee.

Troyann Bell of the London Club
received her 4th certificate in"
the Senior division, while Ida-
Ann Blackwell, Mary Blackwell,
Deb Denomme and Susan Dignan
from Zurich, Aileen Kiungel and
Julie Mock from Hensall re-
ceived their Junior certificates.
These girls are now qualified
to coach groups in their home
Club under the' supervision of
the Professional of the club.
The clinic at the London Skat-
hig 'Club was under the direction
of John Caughell and Mrs. Marj-
orie Black. ' -
Over sixty attended from sur-
rounding clubs - Aylmer, Bel-
mont, Delhi, Hensall, London,
Slmcoe, St. ThomaS, West Lorne,
and Zurich. Eight received Sen-
ior Coaches certificates while
fifty went to Junior Coaches.

SHOWER
A miscellaneous shower was
held in th e Legion Hall Thurs-
day evening in honor of Mrs.
Dorothy Mason,"(nee Skea).Quite
a large number of friends and
neighbours attended. Contests
were enjoyed under the direction
of Mrs. Donna 'Allen. The
presentation address to Dorothy
was read by -Mrs. Allen. The
bride was assisted by Sherri
Travers to open the gifts. Donna
Jean Allen and Cindy Bisback
presented the gifts and Lynn
Skea made a ribbon hat. Dor-
othy fittingly replied. The shower
was arranged by Mrs. Mary Bis-
back and Mrs. Donna Allen.
HENSALL UNTI1D CHURCH
A large crowd attended Hen-
sail United Church Sunday morn-
ing for the Thanksgiving Ser-
vice. Rev. Don Beck chose as
his 'sermon topic "why we all.
need Thanksgiving". The
guest soloist was Dr. Ivan Smil-
lie at one time an active
member of the United -Church
congregation. The 'Choir assist-
ed by Dr. Smillie sang the anthem
"Praise the Name of the Lore.'

from a three week vacation spent
in England.
W.M.S. CARMEL
The W.M.S. of Carmel Pres-
byterian Church met Monday
evening fqr their Thank-Offer-
ing meeting, with Vice-President
Mrs. John Soldan in the chair.
The devotional on Thanks-giving
was given by Mrs. Agnes Madge
and Mrs. Glenn. Bell. The
roll call answered by 14 mem-
bers was a verse of Thanks-
giving.
An invitation was accepted
to attend CrOmarty Offering
meeting Thursday afternoon of
last 'week, and 15 ladies attend-
ed. The ladies were invited
to attend a Thank-Offering meet-
ing at First Presbyterian Church
in .Seaforth. The Huron Pres- '
byterial will be held sometime in
October with the date to be an-
nounced later.
The Ladies Aid meeting•fol-
lowed. Plans were made to hold
a "Country Fair" with home
baking and produce on November
4th. ,
LEGION LADIES
The October meeting of the
:''Ladies Liegiltin 'AuxiliaryV was
held in the dining room of the Hen-'
sail Hotel Tuesday evening,
starting with a dinner to cele-
brate the Auxiliary's 23rd birth-
day. " President Mrs, Mildred
Chalmers presented the Past
President Mrs. Ernie Davis With
a bar and gift. Members de-
cided to 'help with the Annual
Blind canvass held in the vill-
age in October, k donation of $10.00 was made to the C.N.I.B.
• An invitation was ac cepted to
Blyth to attend their 25th birth-
day. An interesting report Was
given by Mrs. Iva Reid and Mrs.
Irene Davis on a Convention which
they attended in Windsor. Sports
Officer Mrs. Iva Reid gave a re-
port on a sports meeting she had
attended. The mystery prize was
won by Mrs. Leona Parke, guess-
ing prize by Mrs. Mary Taylor,
and attendance prize by Mrs.
Mary Bisback.

United Church woman met
Thursday evening with the pres-
ident Mrs. Ralph Stephenson in
charge and sheopened the meet-
ing with a poem. Group one
were In charge of Devotions with
Mrs. William McAsh leading and
assisted by Mrs. Mervyn John-
ston, Mrs. Louis Taylor and Mrs.
Bob webs*, The theme was
"Count your Blessings".
The scripture lesson was read
by Mrs. Florence Elliott, prayer
by Mrs. William McAsh, offering
was received by Mrs. Louis Tay-
lor and dedicated by Mrs. Ida
Mcolinchey who also gave a read-
ing "My open heart" and"Secret
of Thanksgiving". The president
took charge of the business per-
iod. '
There we're twenty three calls
made to sick and shut ins during
the past month. The meeting
was closed with prayer by Mrs.
McAsh.
Visitors over the week
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ivan McClymont were; Mr. and
Mrs. Don Barker, Ruth, Lorne
and Glenn of King City, Mrs.
Doug Robinson, Lorrie, Cathy,
and Carol of Willowdae, Mr.

Mr. Floyd McAsh of Hamilton
spent the week end at the home

Service in the United Church

October 15th owing to anniver-
sary service in Goshen United
Church.
The United Church women
held a successful smorgasbord
supper Wednesday evening.
