Logan Township Council met
in the Township Hall, Bornholm,
with all members present.
• Council approved Amendment
#2 to the Mitchell and District
Offical Plan and the Reeve and
Clerk were authorized to sign
it.
The executive of the Ritz
Lutheran Villa have requested
the Township arrange for the
water supply from the Town of
Mitchell, to service the new
home.
The Assessment Office, God-
erich, advised that in future all
assessment appeals are to be
made to the Assessment Review
Court in Newmarket, Ont. The
Road Supt. reported that con-
struction on Con. 6-7 East was
almost completed and the con-
tractor had completed better than
2/3 of the gravelling. •
Road accounts amounting to
$23,715.96 and general accounts
totaling $1,560.26 and school
debenture payments of $31,050.00
, were ordered paid. •
Applications for Tile Drain-
age Loan in the sum of $10,500
were approved.
Accounts for- roads for
$4,801.43., were-presented by Ed
Chappel, Road. Superintendent,
and passed for payment. •
Discussion on the control of
Milkweed again took place. The
Road Superintendent reported
that all roads had been Cut either,
by mower or scythe. It• was --
decided to disciies with the C ounty
Weed InSpector means of con-
trolling the weed.
Hullett
The regular meeting of Hul-
lett Township Council was held
in the Londesboro Community
Hall. Reeve Hugh. Flynn, was
absent at the start of the meeting
but arrived later. Ken Flea and
A. Sniith from the Bank of Mon-
treal were present at the meet-
ing.
Motions adOpted included:
,That We appoint Joe flunking
to act as Reeve until Reeve Flynn
arrives.
That we grant building per-
mats to Lloyd Pipe and Robert
Thompson to Township By-Laws,
also to Gordon Rowatt for a ce-
ment'silo.
.That we instruct the Ditch
Commissioner to engage whoever
is necessary and repair the Bry-
ant Drainage works.
That this council consent to
the severance of the East half of
Lot 3, Concession 4;'and all of
Lot 4, Con. 5; Township of Hill-
lett , from Margare(B.Whyte to
Wilfred L.Whyte and the sever-
ance of the West half of Lot 3,
Con. 4; all of Lot 4, Con. 4; all
of Lot 3, Con. 5; and part of the • West half of Lot 2, Con. 5; Hul-
lett, from Margaret B.Whyte to
William Robert Whyte as shown

That we open the Court of
Revision on the Jenkins Drain
and appoint Reeve Flynn as chair-

Agriculture 'Minister.H. A.
(Bud) OlSon has announced that
approximately 11,000 wheat
producers in eastern CanadawIll
receive cheques within afew days
to cover their benefits under the
federal government's two-price
wheat payment policy, which was
announced January ' 22, 1972
by the Hon. Otto Lang. •
The total payment will exceed
$5,000,000, with individual pay-
ments averaging $350 and ranging
to a maximum of $522.50 per
producer.
The two-price system is
designed to return additional in-
come to wheat producers for the
domestically-consumed portion
of their crop and Should, add
significantly to the economy bf
the •,rural communities involved..
payments to those who made
application prior to June 30 are
being mailed to Ontario wheat
prOducers this week: pay-
ments to Quebec, Nova Scotia
and Prince Edward Island wheat
produceri will be mailed next
week.
Applications received after
June 30 and until September 30
will be processed as quickly as
possible.
' Correction
In a story in last weeks issue
in 'connection with the 60th birth-
day party for Mr. Fred /vIcGavin,
two names were omitted from
those attending. These were Mr.
and Mrs. Douglas Scott and fam-
ily and Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Scott and family. In addition
the name of Miss Bonnie Zeiman
was spelled incorrectly.
Hibbert council, at Its Sept-
ember meeting gave final
approval to a zoning by-law• which when approved by the Ontario
Municipal Board will provide
controls over growth,and-build-
ing in the township and In Dublin.
The Zoning By-Law was
drawn up in co-operation with the
adjoining Townships of Fullerton
cottage at Lions Head.

Miss Margie Whyte, who spent
the summer in. the Philippines
with Operation Crossroads, is
now in Australia. She hopes to
work there for several months,
then tractel to India on her way
home to Canada. ,

Within 20 months he had
cleared nearly 100 acres of land
and in 1829 harvested the first
crop of wheat ever grown in the
Huron Tract.
Col. Van..Egmond became in-
terested In William Lyon Mac-
kenzie's struggle against the
Family Compact, running unsuc-
cessfully after losing in an 1835,
election in Huron as a reform
candidate.
Asked te be Mackenzie's mil-
itary commander in the rebellion,
Van Egmond rode , to Mont-
gomery's Tavern, arriving jest
after the rebels were routed by
the British.
He was arrested; tried for
treason and died from pneumonia
in York Jail Dec.,30, 1837.
The body was brought baCk to
the Van Egmond farm near Sea-
Orth and afterwards to a ceme-
tery just west of the present home
in Egmondville.

'not be - proceeded with. The
only deer season on this Dis-
trict with the use of guns, will
be in the Bruce Peninsula .
Reeve Ross McPhail was app-
ointed as the representative from•
Hibbert, to join with the Town-
ships of Fullerton and Logan,
and the Town of Mitchell, to
visit Queens Park to • discuss
Lower Tier Government, and its
effect on Regional Government.

Morris Township Council
meeting last Wednesday agreed
with Clinton that an investigation
into the administration of Justice
in Huron was desirable. Coun'cil
endorsed a resolution' adopted
earlier by Clinton council.

- Imposed a special annual drain- .
age rate under the Tile Drainage
Act 1971.
- Arranged borrowing for the
Clark Bridge from Canadian Im-
perial Bank of Commerce, Wing-
ham.
- Approved applications from
three ratepayers for tile drain
loans.
- Named Thos., Miller to look
after repairs to Nichol Drain.
- Instructed the road superinten-
dent and treasurer to submit a
necessary petition for interim
payment of subsidy under Public
Transportation and Highway Im-
provement Act.
- Agreed to advertise for con-
tractors to plough snow for1972-
73 season.

were approved for payment.

misses row .
A Logan Township man swer-
ved his car to' avoid a cow,
crashed into a post, but walked
away unhurt from the early mom,
ing accident.
Police say Donald Diegel, Lot
33, Con. 10, Logap Township,
was driving west along Con. 10
when he saw the animal at about
2 a.m. Monday.
Damage to the car is estimat-
ed at $600.

is a private elementary school
