Organizations begin fall meetings
Seaforth II 4H Club met at
Mrs. a the home of 'Len O'Rourke
on Monday. The leader, Mrs.
James Devereaux opened the
meeting and penducted an elec-
• tion. Officers are: Presickint,
John N. Mayes,
B. Sc, (Ay.), M.B.A.
Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce announces the
appointment of Mr. John N.
Mayes as an Agricultural Off-

Offiper.
Mr. Mayes, a native of
Stroud, Ontario, is a grad-
uate of the University of
Guelph and the University of
Western Ontario, and has
• gained experience in Ontario
with the Ministry of
Agriculture and Food, Farm
Credit Corporation and the
Agricultural Rehabilitation
arid Development Administra-
lion.
From his base in Toronto
he will work closely with farm
operators and rural Branch
Managers in Ontario. ' His
appointment is part of the
continuing expansion of the
Agricultural Department of
the Commerce which now in-
cludes specialists in Ontario,
Manitoba, Saskatchewan and
Albertaee'as well as at the

Chiselhurst U.C.W. held their
September meeting Tuesday
evening at thp Church. Mrs.
Alvin Cole opened the meeting
with a poem "Lord give me
faith". Everyone joined in sing-
ing the theme hymn followed by
prayer. Mrs. _John Brintneil
took the worship with the title
being "Wisdom". Thirteen
members answered the roll call
with a verse from Psalm 25.
Mrs. Earl Kinsman read a poem
for the programme "For the
sheep not a lamb". It was de-
cided to hold the fall bazaar on
November 1, Mrs. Gerald Glenn
conducted the study by showing
slides on Korea, India, Hong
Kong and Nepal. Mrs. Cole
colsed the meeting with prayer.
The hostesses were Mrs. Alf
Ross and -Mrs. Earl Kinsman.
AMBER REBEKAH LODGE'
The first fall meeting of
Amber Rebekah Lodge was held
Wednesday evening with N. G.
Mrs. Ernie Chipchase presiding
and being assisted by V. G.
Mrs. Dorothy Beaton, A number
of members attended a memorial
service at the Box Funeralliome,
Seaforth in memory of Mrs.
Margaret Baird, a former mem-
ber of the Lodge. Mrs. Maggie
Campbell and Mrs. teerothy
Parker reported on visiting the
patients at Queensway during the
summer months and handing put
treats. Mrs. Alice Ferg and
Mrs. Inez McEwan volunteered
to visit., the home -ID -September,
N.G. Mrs. 'Olga Chipchase ask-
ed that all tickets for the afghan
and the blanket be turned in to
the Secretary Mrs. Leona Parke
by" the 18th of September for a
draw on Sept. 20. 'A memorial
service held by the Lodge at
the Bonthron Funeral Horne on
Wednesday evening in memory of
Mrs. Edna Corbett, a Charter
member of the Lodge. Install-
ation of officers of the Amber
Rebekah Lodge will be held on
October 18, by D.D.P. Sister
Margaret Sharpe of Seaforth Dis-
trict 23: The Charter will be
draped at the next meeting in
memory of two departed sisters.

United Church Sunday School
started a new fall term. Pins
and diplomas were announced
by Superintendent Cecil Ppper
and handed out by Secretary
Wayne Payne. Those receiving
second year pins .for 2 years
perfect attendance were: Brenda,
Manly and • Laurie Pepper.
Those receiving gold pins for
perfect attendance for one year
were: Chris Beck, Susan Beck,
Steven Corbett and Jo-Anne
Pepper.._ Those receiving silver
pins for one Sunday sfiort of
perfect attendance were: Barbara
McCurdy, Shelley Wareing, Me-
lissa Veal, Jerry Smith and Paul
Mansfield.
W.M.S. MEETING
The W. M. S. of -Carmel
Presbyterian, Church held their
first fall meeting on Monday
evening. President Mrs. Rachel
Schwalm opened the meeting with
a 'Psalm 118 , prayer and a
• poem called "Life". Hyinns were
sung with Mrs. Mable Munn
accompanying at the piano.•Mrs.
Elizabeth Faber gave the
• devotional and read a story called
"Family • Affair History'",
followed by scripture and prayer.
34 visits were reported to have
been made by members to the
sick shut-ins throughout the
durinergi months. Mrs. Jean
Snell. read "Secretary'sCorner"
from the Glad Tidings. Roll
call was answered by 11 members
and two visitors with a church
they had visited during summer
vacation. Mrs. Blanche Dougall
read from the booklet called'
"These Days". The Carmel
W. M. S. will be hostesses to
the Huron Presbyterial which will
be held some time in October
with 'date to be announced later.
Next meeting will be held October
2 in the evening. Mrs. Maggie
Campbell closed the.meeting with
the benediction.
The 'Ladies Aid meeting fol-
lowed with Mrs. Aldene Volland
presiding and Mrs. Jean Snell
acting as secretary.
UNIT II MEETING
Unit II of Hensall U.C.W:
met Monday evening at the church
to start off the fall season. Mrs.
visited one day last week with
Mrs. Albert Alexander. •
Mrs.. Sim Roobal and Mrs.
Don Dodds and Joan left on Tues-
day for a vacation to Holland.
Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobal
were in Chatham on Saturday
and visited with Mrs. Rooballs
brother Anthony Gelderland who
is- a patient in General Hospital
there.
Mrs. Sim Roobal had the mis-
fortune to receive a broken wrist
and two broken ribs in a car
accident near M cTaggarts Ceme-
tery on Sunday afternoon.
Pearl Passmore acted as chair-
lady and opened the meeting with
a poem. "He was one of us".
Mrs. Mildred McNaughton gave
the devotional using an article
from the last Observer with the
theme tell you this - unless
you turn round and becowe like
children you will never enter
the Kingdom of Heaven". Eleven
members and one visitor
answered the roll call. It was
announced that the Christmas
stock project is, due it
November. The general meeting
will be held October 2. Unit I I
are responsible for the nursery
in October. Next meeting will
be the 3rd Monday in October
because of the Thanksgiving holi-
day. A very interesting study
Was given by Mrs. Hazel Corbett
who gave an up to date report on
Africa by using newspaper clip-
pings. Everyone enjoyed a
contest on "uge" conducted by
Mrs. Pearl Passmore. Mrs.
Helve Fuss and Mrs. Jean Fer-
guson served lunch.
Falls at home
Mrs. Alma Hess fell at her
home and was rushed to Sceith
Huron Hospital, Exeter, by arnbu-
- lance Sunday evening. ,e)
The Hensall 4-H Club will
begin on Tuesday. Any girl 12
years er over and interested may
contact Mrs. Bill Fuss at 262-
2946 or Mrs. Ted Oud at 262-
5075 as soon as possible.

The Canadian Industries
• meeting of Kippen East W.I. will
be held at the- home of Mrs.
Cecil Pullman, September 20,
Roll call will be advantages and
disadvantages brought by new
industries in our area. Mrs.
Harry Caldwell will give the
motto. Mrs. Hugh Parsons a
contest and Mrs. Campbell Eyre
will be in charge of the lunch.
Auxiliary
makes plans
for autumn
Kippen II 4-H Club met Tues-
day afternoon at the home of Mrs.
Robert Bell. The roll call was
my favourite picnic or barbecue
patio food. Mrs. Robert Bell
discussed parties , picnica and
barbecues and demonstrated how
to make garlic bread. Lynn
Alderdice demonstrated meatka-
bobs and the club held a barbecue
of the meat kabobs, corn on the
corn and fruit kabobs., A salad
completed their meal, Kippen
II 4-H Club chose their name
for this club - "Kippen Kabobs"

The Ladies Legion Auxiliary
was held in the Legion Hall
Tuesday evening with President
Mrs. Mildred Chalmers in the'
chair.
Mrs. Jean _Smale and Mrs.
Mary Taylor were installed, on
the Executive Committee for 1972
by the President. Members de-
cided to again have the money
doll draw at Christmas time
with the proceeds to go towards
free skating for the children.
A dinner meeting is planned
for October to celebrate the 23rd
birthday of the Auxiliary. The
'dinner will be held at '7 p.M. at
the Hensall Hotel.
Sports Officer, Mrs. Iva
Reid; gave a report on the sports
and announced that there are,
bowling tournaments coming up in
•W ingham Strathroyand Seaforth.
