The annual fowl supper is on
November 1st with Mrs. Mc-
Gavin and Mrs.' Craig to look
after music for entertainment.
A bale is to be packed, with
good used clothing to be left at
the church by October 15th,
The nomination committee
wish all resignations to be hand-
ed in by October 30th. Comm-
union service is to be held the
first.-Sunday - in October, with
the 8th and 16th unit to be in
charge to wash the glasses. The
Regional meeting will be held
at the Brucefteld United Church
on October 12th. Dr. Era Moses
of India, will be one of the special
speakers. Mrs. Herb Treviss
read thank you cards from Mrs.
C. McCutcheon, Mrs. Roy
Bennett, Mrs. J. Fritz and Nellie
Bean.
4-H club
The first meeting of the fall
project "The Third Meal was
held 'on Monday evening at the
home of Mrs. Gerald Watson.
The members' pamphlet and
other material was given out
by the leaders, Mrs. Watson and
Mrs. A. ,Searle.
Officers elected are;
President - Bev. Stevenson; Vice
President - Joan Bennett; Sec-
retary and Press reporter axe
rotating.

made two pizzas. Susan Hum-
phries demonstrated ' how to
measure lard. Handout sheets
were filled and in the time left
the girls hp.d pizza which the y
said was "really good".
The meeting was adjourned
to meet next Monday evening at
Mrs. Searle's home.
MISSION. BAND
The 'Mission Band met Sund-
day morning in the basement
of the church with 38 in att-
endance.

conducted by Mrs. Merton Hack-

A bridal shower was held
Wednesda y evening in honour of
Miss Elizabeth MacLean at' the
home of her mother. The host-
esses were Mrs. Leo Teatero
and Mrs. Ron Brady. She re-
ceived many lovely gifts. Liz
also was honoured at a shower
at the Egmondville Church on
Monday evening of this week.
4-H club
The first 4-H meeting of the
Egmondville I club leaders and
members was held at the home
of the leader Mrs. Norman Eggert
Her assistant is Mis's Mary Van
Dyke. ,
The project, °The 3rd Meal"
will consist of eight meetings
where at each meeting the mem-
bers will niake something. The
group discussed general rules
about food and dishes and later
held an election of officers: Pres.
Connie Van Dyke; - Vice-Pres.
June Eggert; Sec. Floating;
Trees; Lorna Eggert; Press Rez,
porter; Margaret Van Dyke.

UCW meets
The United Church Women
met in the basement of Duff's
United Church, Walton, on Wed-
nesday evening with 15 ladies
present.
Mrs. Roy Williamson was in
charge of devotions for the 17th
and Boundary Unit giving the
Call to Worship, Hymn, "He
'Leadeth Me, 0 Blessed Thought"
was sung accompanied by Mrs.
Martin Baan as pianist. Mrs.
Williamson read an article on
"The Bible", Mrs. HarveyCraig
read from Luke 4; 1-13. "Just
as 1 am without one plea" was
sung and Mrs. Williamson closed
with prayer.
Mrs. Neil McGavie conduct-
speak.
A bus trip to Collingwood
area is to take the place of the
October meeting and a 'home
baking sale in'late September is
planned instead of the usual
bazaar. A fowl supper is plaruied
for late October.
Devotions were in charge of
Mrs. Alec Chesney with Mrs.
Russell. Miller reading the Scrip-
ture. Mrs. E. Durst and Mrs.
Mabel Scott favoured with a duet.

RECEPTION HELD
A large crowd attended the
reception and dance in Walton
Community Hall Friday evening
to honor the recent newly weds,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred. *Uhler (Ope
Karen Cunningham).
Prior to lunch an address
was read by Keith Williamson
and Graeme Craig made the pre-
sentation of a gift of money to
the couple. Mr. Uhler express-
ed their thanks.
° The evening Was spent dancing
to the music of Ian Wilbee and
his orchestra.
Mr. and Mrs. Merton Hack-
well, Jeffery, Blaine and Craig
visited on Sunday in Brussels with
Mr. and Mrs. Clair Long, the
occasion being to celebrate
J effery's 10th birthday.
The committees are busy
planning for the 75th Anniversary
celebration of the founding of the
Institute at their special Women's
Institute meeting this Saturday
to be held at the community hall
with all former 4-H members and
