Mrs. John. Eckert, 75,
of Dublin died at her home Wed-
nesday Aug. 30th, after a long
illness. The former Louise
Flanagan, she was born in Logan
Township, and attended Beech-
wood school. Her husband died
in 1960.
She was a member of the
Catholic women's League and the
Altar Society of St. Patrick's
Church.
Mrs. Eckert is survived by
daughters, Sister Mary and Sis-
ter Margaret Rose, Ur suline Sis-
ters, of Essex, Mrs. Alphonse
(Annie) Cronin of Dublin; Mrs.
Clarence (Cecilia) Ryan of St.
Columban, Mrs. Jerome (The rsa)
Kelly of Kinkora, Mrs. Keith
(Rita) Kelly of Stratford, sons,
Joseph and Michael of Dublin,
Fred of Sheffield, James of Kit-
chener, Jerry of Sauble Beach,
sisters, Mrs. Ambrbse (Agnes)
Glynn Of Dublin, Mrs. Frank
(Theresa) Maloney of St. • Col-
umban; 53 granchildren; 16 great
grandchildren. A son John pre-
deceased his mother.
The body was at the R.S. BOx
funeral home in Seaforth where
prayers were said ,Friday at
8:30 P.M., followed by mass
at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Pat-
rick's Church, Dublin with Father
T. G. Dill, officiating.
Burial followed in the church
cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Daniel
Cronin, Leo Cronin, Stephen
Eckert, Jerry Kelly, Donald
Ryan, Patrick Kelly. Flower-
bearers were: Robert Eckert and
David Eckert.

1972, at 4 months of age, He
was the baby son of Mr, and
Mrs. Ray McLean .of London,
a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ken
McLean, Hensall and Mr. and.
Mrs. Ralph Turner .of Hensall.
Private funeral services were
held from the Bonthron Funeral
Chapel, Hensall, on Tuesday,
September 5, 1972 with Rev. H.
Currie officiating. Interment
was made in Exeter Cemetery.

few weeks.
Miss Sandra 'Watson has re-
turned to London, where she has
been accepted on the staff of
St, Josephs Hospital, following
a holiday leave at her parents
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rock and
Jeanette visited recently at the
home of Mr. and Mrs.HughRinn,
Belgrave.
Murray McCall enjoyed the
Canada Student voyageurs pro-
gram where he visited Quebec,
Ottawa and Montreal along with
6,000 other students in differ-
ent groups.
On Saturday the Walton-Bru-
ssels Midgets won in their own
zone, 0.A.S.A. over Parry Sound
played in Brussels ball park,
the first game 9 - 3, the second
5 - 4 win for the local boys,
they received crests and now
advance to-another zone. 4
Mr.f and Mrs.• Fred Putt of
St. Thomas spent the week end
with Mr. and Mrs. David Wat-
son and attended the funeral of
the latters brother Mr. Robt.
Watson of Londesboro.

SAMUEL WILSON BARR
Samuel Wilson Barr of 1045
Birchmount Rd., Toronto, a
former resident of Brussels,
passed away in Riverdale Hosp-
ital, Toronto, 'on Friday, Aug-
ust 25th in his 69th. year.
Born in Morris Township,
he was the son of the late Peter
and Atilla Barr. He received
his education in Morris Town-
ship. In 1943, in Toronto, he
was married to the former Mary
Hodges Mann. He had been an
employee of Continental Can
where he .received his 25 year
recognition. in later years he
was a paper finisher. He was
a member of the Presbyterian
Church.
Surviving are his wife: two
stepdaughters; Mrs. Stuart (El-
eanor) Stevenson of Grey Town-
ship -and MrS . Bruce (lama)
Cummins of Toranto and one
brother, Jack Barr of Tillson-
burg.
Funeral service was held
from the M.L. Watts Funeral
Hoerr, Brussels at 2;00 p.m.
on, Tuesday, August 29th. Rev.
L. E. LeDrew officiated. Bur-
ial', was in Harvey Cemetery,
Logan Township.
Pallbearers were Stuart
Stevenson, Fred Stevenson, Tom
Stevenson, Bruce Cummins,
Peter CuMmins, and Robbie
Cummins.
Flower Bearers were Sharon
Stevenson, Ann Lee Stevenson
and Arla Cummins.

In scanning the Zurich Citizens' News we note loss
was estimated at $50,000 when a large barn, 200 weaner
pigs, 20 sows, several boars and 2,000 bales of hay were
destroyed by. fire at the farm of Cornelius Inthoutaan- the
Blue Water Highway, half-way between Grand Bend and
St. Joseph. Dashwood, Grand Bend and Zurich fire de-
partments were called to the scene of the blaze. - -
Miss Judy Mudge, of Grand Bend and Ingersoll was chosen
Saturday night as the Bean Festival Queen. - - - "The
Last Few- Miles", a half-hour film for the CBC, written
and directed by Mr. Kit Hood of Toronto, took place
near Hayfield on the sixth concession of Goderich Township
on Picot's Hill. A number of Hayfield residents and others
from the Zurich-Clinton area took part. The film will
have its premiere showing in Hayfield in December.
Mr.and Mrs.Andrew Bannerman, Walkerton and formerly
of Riversdale on the Kincardine Highway, according to the
Teeswater 'News, marked their 50th wedding anniversary
recently. - -Three-year-old Susan Heitz, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Heitz, had a narrow escape from
death. Her father had to get machinery parts in Belgrave.
Susan wanted to go, so she climbed on the running board
on the passenger side. Her father did not know the girl
was there. He drove along ,Highway 4 throtigh Teeswater
and through Wingham. About a mile from Beigrave she
lost her hold and fell to the roadside, unconscious, later
being picked up by a passing motorist and brought to
Smith's Store in Beigrave and rushed to wingham Hospital.
Through a Provincial Police report the parents learned
of the host
of the hospitalization of their daughter. Susan is home now
and feeling cmite well.
From the Listowel Banner we note that Ralph Bowman
will head the Atwood Lions Club. - - - Steve Horn, son of •
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Horn, Gowanstown; won the junior
showman class at the C.N.E., while his 2 1/2 month-old
colt, won his class for Shetland ponies. The Horns have
12 horses, including Sheltland and American saddlebred
and this fall will show in Detroit and at the Royal Winter
Fair.
..The first park to be developed on the Hayfield River,
according to the Clinton News-Record, will be opened at
Clinton next year. The Ausable-Bayfteld Conservation
Authority has purchased 11.8 acres of land on the Hayfield
River south-east of the bridge on highway 4 and plans are
to open a day-use park to be ready by next summer. - - -
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Jervis, Holmesville, Marked their 50th
wedding anniversary recently. Mr. and Mrs. DannyGlidden,
who were attendants at the marriage 50 years ago, were
guests as were the children of the minister who married
them. - - - Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Jackson, Soncession 2;
Stanley Township, celebrated their golden anniversary on
Saturday. The celebration took place at the Jackspn .
homestead, first occupied by Stanley and his parents, the late
iyir. and Mrs. James Jackson, over 60 years ago.
From the Exetei• Times-Advocate we note thatGeraldine
Templeman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.- John Templeman,
Staffa, was one of the finalists in the Ontario Dairy Princess
competition held at the CNE Friday.'. She is 18 years old
and was the Perth County Dairy Princess. - - - Fire struck
twice within ten days on the farm of Mr. and Mrs. James
Eagleson, Jr. Having just completed building an 800 bale
straw stack three hours earlier, lightning, struck during the
brief electrical storm early Saturday evening and levelled
It to ashes. The family barn was destroyed the previous
week..
. The Wingham Advance-Times reports on September 18
-the. Fordwich sub-branch to the Wroxeter Canadian Imperial
Bank of Commerce will become a full branch. Manager
at the Fordwich sub-b-ranch was Dan Cardinal who is being
transferred to CoricSton as bank manager. The new manager

Work on poolinstallation commences Monday, according
to the Lucknow Sentinel, on an alternative site. The original
site was immediately south of the Arehabut further investi-
gation indicated it was not leasable to build 'the pool
there. - -The sum of $706.25 was raised by a roller
skateathon and was. presented to the Lucknow Lions Club.
It will be used for the current Lions Club project. - - -Mrs.
Joseph Gaunt, of West Wawanosh is in Wingham District
Hospital following a fall last Saturday. Mrs. Gaunt,.Who,
will observe her 93rd birthday, September 16, suffered
a fractured pelvis. She resides at Cosy Cottage, a nursing
home just north of Whitechurch.
