In some instan- ces, nursing home patients were sent to another municipality where they become the welfare responsibility of•that municipali- ty. In another instance, most notably Clinton, where airforce personnel moved out of homes and housing became available, welfare recipients moved in. Mr. McKinnon pointed out that in mun- icipalities where little empty housing exists, there is less likelihood of welfare recipients finding accommodation and they (Sob's Giilf) Mrs. Dave Nigh: Baking (Trapnells) Valerie MuS- selman 155.Romeo St., Stratford: Tractor Wagon (Vincent) Mrs. Bob Murray, R.R.#4 Seaforth: Lawn Fertilizer (Tppnotch) Irwin Trewartha: Groceries (Pruss) Kevin Henderson: Ther- mos Set (Bob & Betty) Jimmy Racho Egmondville, Case of Coke (I.G.A.) County council gave its ap- proval to enter into an agree- nient with the Victorian Order of • Nurses to provide nursing service at home, where necess- ary, for recipients of general welfare assistance. • An 80 per cent grant is paid by the govern- , ment toward these services. The county will pay the remainder. A resolution put forward by the Huron County Health Unit Board 14a.s• approved by council. The resolution asking the pro- vince to consult with health'nnits and ,boards of health regarding any proposed' changes in health legislation, is in \anticipation of regional health, units which are feared to be more costly. "We don't know the intention of government," said chairman Derry Boyle. "The Minister isn't clear on it but it looks like hospital, insurance, health care and welfare could all be rolled into, one. They're trying to co- ordinate allied services. The Minister has refused to meet with the Ontario Health Units As- sociatiop and has turned 'down an invitation to speak at its next convention because he'll be out of the country. We don't know where to go for more information but we 'don't want the same thing • to happen here as happened to' our school system where legis- lation was rammed through. We may only be paying 25 per cent instead of 50 percent, but costs will .be greater and we won't be saving any money." "We're not opposed to change providing toe change is not con- trary to what we want in our health unit," added Ed.
