An enjoyable evening was
spalt at Amber Rebekah Lodge
recently, when District Deputy
President, Mrs. Ruby Bell and
the Past Noble Grands of the
Lodge entertained the Past Noble
Grands of District No. 23 at a
social evening.
Mrs. Bell D.D.P. presided
over the programme which open-
ed with a sing song with Mrs.
Edith Bell at the piano. Mrs.
Beatrice Hess of Zurich was
guest soloist and favoured with
vocal solos accompanied at the
piano by Mrs. Berne McKinley.

TERIAN CHURCH MEETING
The W.M.S. business meeting
of Carmel Presbyterian Church
was held Monday evening. Pres-
ident, Mrs. 'Rachel Schwalm,
opened the meeting with a poem
entitled "Earth is Generous"'.
Mrs. Ed Munn accompanied at
the piano and Mrs. Percy Camp-
bell acted as Secretary. Lease
coin contributions Were made
with Mrs. Schwalm reading from
the booklet "Circle of Prayers".
Mrs. Clarence Volland read a
letter from a missionary' in Tai-
wan,, Miss Wilma Welsh. Mrs.
Blanche Dougall read from the
record "A Church School succ-
ess story of Calgary." Corres-
pondence was read from Camp
Kintail saying there is still more
room for registration. -The W.
M.S. will order the new study
packets for the Explorers"Child-
rens' M ission Group whose Coun-
selor is Mrs. Al Hoggarth. The
meeting closed with a prayer by
Mrs. Ruby Hoggarth. The ladies
Aid Meeting followed with Mrs.

Church. Mrs. Howard Scene
presided and opened with apoem.
Passages of Scripture taken from
St Luke's Gospel and from Eph-
esians were read by Mrs. Scane.
She likened the narrowness of
our lives to that of the, Pharisees
whiApa Jesus condemned for their
smug, narrow outlookon life and
cautioned us that our lives too
are being narrowed by selfish-
ness and lack of love. The study
on Uganda was given by Mrs.
Audrey Christie who showedcol-
ourful pictures of the country.
The roll call was answered by 8
members and 1 visitor. Unit 1
are to be responsible for crafts
and visiting at Queensway in
September, and were also asked
to help with the Brownie and
Guide Banquet for June 22. Mrs.
Grace Harpole played a piano
solo. Mrs, Ken McLean acted as
Hostess and Mrs. Albert Shirray
assisted her for a social hour.

UNIT 2 U.C.W. MEETING
Unit 2 of Hensall U.C.W met
in the Fellowship Hall on Mon-
day. Mrs. Lorna Chapman open-
ed the meeting by a poem
"Children" reminding us to live
and look forward with the-child--
ren. Mrs. Pat Venner gave the
devotional, "God is the source
of all energy - strenght, emotion-
al, and spiritual" and Mrs. Kay
Mock read scripture passages,
Mrs. Chapman introduced the
guests, Pam -Mickle and• Jill
Drysdale, who told' of their tour
to England and Frapce. Pam
started the commentary from
South Huron High School to Lon-
don , England, where they went on
a bus tour and saw many promin-,
ent buildings such as Westminis-
ter Abbey, Big Ben, Prime Min-
ister Churchill's home and the
Queen's summer home. Jill then
continued "With a rough"ride over
the English Channel by Hover-
craft to Calais,France. The en-
- tire group of students were for-
merly welcomed by the Mayor of
Provins, France. Mrs. Chapa.

son, P.N.G., in the presentation
of prizes to the following; lady
travelling the greatest distance,

Following the programme,
refreshments were served by the
Past Noble Grands,of Amber Re-
bekah Lodge and a _social hawk
was enjoyed. Seventy-five Past
Noble Grands attended from God- 0
erich, Clinto n, Seaforth, Brus-
sels, Exeter and Hensall.
ST. PAULS ANGLICAN CHURCH
MEETING
The A.C.W. of St. Pauls Ang-
lican Church met at the home of
Mrs. Mary Taylor last Thursday
evening. President, Mrs. Sera-
bulk opened the meeting with the
members prayer, followed by de-
votions from The Living Mess-
age, with Mrs. Mary Taylor, Mrs,
W. Scrabuik and Mrs. D. Wind-
over taking. portions of it. The
study book was taken by Mrs.
F. Clark on "Problems." Mrs.
D. Windover gave a report on the
Deanery. Meeting which was held
in may at Trivitt Memorial
Church,- Exeter. She outlined
the work done by Bishop Cook in
the Far North, also reported
$8,620.00 had been realized by
the 'Annual Thank Offering for
this Diocese. The A.C.W.News
letter was given to members to
read. It was decided to meet in
July, as a meeting had been can-
celled in January due to the wea-
ther conditions. The roll call, a

PERSONALS
Mr. John Rapelje, Minnesota,
Mr. Ken Moyer, St. Thomas,
Mr. Ross Berdan, Union, visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Payne
during the week. The former,
Mr. Rapelje, is a cousin of Carl
Paynes, whom he had not seen
since childhood.
Mr. and Mas. Gary Lawrence
and family have moved into the
residence they recentlypurchas-
ed on Richmond Street, Sputa.
Mr. Wayne' Payne has been
discharged from the hospital at
Goderich.,
