the Carmel Presbyterian W.M.S.
was held' Monday evening with
Mrs. Rachel Schwalm, presiding
and opening with a poem "A
living Faith". Mrs, Myrtle Orr
and Mrs. Tory Soldan led the wor-
ships service with Mrs. Soldan
reading scripture and the birth-
day meditation and piayer, f61-
lowed with a poem and prayer
"The Art of Growing Old" by
Mrs. 'Orr. The guest soloist for
the evening Mrs. Robert Hoff-
man, Dashwood sang.

The Blyth Standard report's that Blyth 'store's will con-
tinue to close on Wednesday and be open on Monday.
Construction of the cable television reception tower at
Holmesville, according to the Clinton News-Record, will
begin. in August. Ron ,McIntosh of Goderich informed. the
News-Record last week and added that there was some
concern among Clinton people ' that they would not be
serviced with cable until after Goderich is finished. This
he says is untrue. He said the cable will be installed in
Clinton in early fall with the project to be completed by the
spring.

A most enjoyable occasion
took place On Sunday, May 21,
at the Hay Township Hall, Zur-
ich where a celebration was held
to hohour Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Deichert on their fifty-fifth anni-
versary. Guests Included bro-
thers and sisters, nieces and
nephews of the couple, also their
own immediate family of three
sons and four daughters,, their
husbands and wives, the grand-
children, two great grand-child-
ren and the parents of •the In-
laws.

the village of Hensall has
been canvassed for the Canadian
Bible Society. Mrs. Sim Roobal
as organizer of the campaign
reported a total of $250.05 has
been turned in. Canvassers from
the three churches took part.

United Church, Confirmation and
Holy Communion was held. For
his sermon Rev..Don Beck chose
the theme "A War Within Me."
Sixteen young people were con-
firmed into the church. They

Gail Travers, Patti Rowcliffe,
Gord Pryde, Cindy Parker, Doug
Kyle'', Dan Crerar, Beth Crerar,
Steve Corbett, Kevin Buchanan,
Brad Buchanan, Ida Ann Black-

Chris Beck. Three young people
who wished to reaffirm their
