MARINUS VAN DYK
Marinus Van Dyk, of Hen-
sail, passed away at South Huron
Hospital, Exeter,,,, on April 15,
1972 in his 75th year.
Surviving are. brothers An-
thony, Quebec; Hanle, Holland;
and sister Mrs. Lena Meinstra,
holland. Also surviving are sever
eral nieces and nephews,, among
them Mrs. Sim Roobol of Hen--
sail. .
" Mr. Van Dyk was born in
Holland and came to Canada in
1927, where .,he has resided in
the Grand Bend area, and east
of Hensall. Four years ago he
came to Hensall and resided on
MI11 Street.

when service was held April
18, 1972, with Rev. Donald Beek.

MRS. JAMES KERR
Mrs. James Kerr, RR 1, Sea-
forth, died suddenly in Seaforth
Community Hospital'on Monday.
She was in her 65th year.

Dorrance, she was born in Mc-
Millan. She attended school at
SS no. 4, McMillan. Mrs. Kerr
is survived by her .husband to •
whom she was married at'Duff's
Chur4 Manse,McKillop in
March 1938, an by a son, Rob-
ert at pome and Iwo daughters,
Betty, Mrs. B.H.l'aylor,.RR 4,
Bruspels, and Margaret at home
and by 3 grandchildren.
She was a mmber of North-side United Church.
A funeral service will be held
Thursday at 2 p.m. at thg G.A.
Whitney flineral home, Seaforth,
conducted by her minister, Rev.
M.E.,Reuber. Internment will
follow in Maitlandbank cemetery.
MRS. LE WLS B. ARMSTRONG
Mrs. Lewis B. Armstrong of
R.R.5, Brussels, died atQueens-
way Nursing Home, Henan on
April 12. She was 73.
The forrrier Laaira Jane
Knight, she was born , in Morris
Township the daughter of the
late Mr. and mrs, Andrew Knight.
She was predeceased by her
husband in 1968, but is survived
by a •sister Edna; Mrs. James
McDonald of Grey Township.
Mrs. Armstrong was a
member of Duff's United Church,
Walton.
Funeral services were con-
ducted on Friday at the M. L.
Watts Funeral Home, Brussels
by her minister Rev. D. Docken.
Interment followed in Brussels
Cemetery.

lair, Donald McDonald, Kenneth
McDonald and Murray Huether.
Flbwerbearers were Neil Mc-
Donald and Brian Huether.
, LESLIE STIRLING
Mr. Leslie Stirling of Ratten-
bury St. Clinton, passed away
suddenly on April 6th in his 74th
year. He had lived in Goderich.
Township all his life until mov-
ing to Clinton three years ago.
He was predeceased by one broth-
er, Fred and •his first wife(Annie)
Foster in 1967. He leaves to
• mourn his less, his wife the
former Mrs. Mabel Switzer,
three datighters, Mrs. Geo. Case,
RR 4, Walton, Mrs. Francis
Hiusser, Galt, Mrs. Richard Rug-
sell, Fort Erie,'one son Keith,
or Sarnia, and five grandchild-
ren.
Funeral services were held
April 8th at the Ball funeral
home, Clinton, with Rev. Redd-
ack, Hayfield, officiating. Pall-
bearers were John Lindsay,
Brown Lindsay, Douglas Stir],

Egmondville 11 441 club, the
Snazzy Snoozers held their last
meeting at the home of Mrs.
Gloria Glanville on April 4, at
7.00. The discussion was about
the fashion parade in which our
club will take part on achieve-
ment .da,3N We opened the meet-
ing with the 4-H pledge and Pam
Geddes read the minutes of the
last meeting.
Miss Sharon Glanville spent
the weekend with a friend, Miss
Janet Steep of Goderich.
Visitors on the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Geddes
were Mr. and Mrs. James Cam-
eron of sarnia, Mks. Geddes'
parents. They also visited with
Mrs. J. Coutts, who is a patient
in Seaforth Community Hospital.

St. Columban were honoured by
their family on the occasion of
their 35th Wedding Anniversary
on Saturday, April 8.
Following Saturday evening
mass in St. Columban Roman
Catholic Church in honour of
their intentions Mr. and M rs.
Ryan and their family joined at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Cronin to celebrate the occas-
ion. An evening of dancing with
music supplied by Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph F. Ryan and cards were
enjoyed by those in attendance:
Later in the evening .a smo14-
gasborg dinner was served and
Mr. and Mrs. Ryan served wed-
ding cake.

ity Hospital.

The annual meeting of the
local council of the Catholic
Women's League was held in the
parish hall on.Weduesday evening
with 21 members present.
Father 'Oostveen opened the
meeting with prayer. Altars will
be cared for during April by
Mrs. Lou O'Reilly and Mrs. Zack
Ryan. Mrs. Frank Murray, will
visit the sick. The President,
Mrs". Dominic Murray, thanked
everyone for their help and co-
operation during the past year.

Elligson and Michael Scherbarth
gathered with their hockey team-
mates at the Monkton Commun-
ity Centre. The Lion's Club pre-
sented them with hockey crests
for the past season.

At a meeting of the P.T.A.
held last Tuesday evening in the
general purpose room of St. Col-
' umban School, Sister Florence
Kelly was guest speaker.'
The Instructor in religion for
Dufferin and Peel Counties,
Sister Florence discussed the
teaching of religion today and
gave an outline of the approach
that is used in each grade from
I to VIII.
--She closed-her- informative, .
talk by saying “Religion now-
adays is not the same as it
used to be. This way is more
filled with understanding, hope
and jpy in the presence of God.
It is not the saying of prayers,
but a listening to God and to life.
Let us pray that we are preparing
our ehildren to be the church of
the times.''

A surprise dinner, given by
their family, was held in honor
of mr. and Mrs. Jack McIver
on Saturday evening at the Com-
mercial Hotel, Seaforth.'

the home of Mr. and Mrs. McIver 4
for the evening; with all the family
