'Plans for the opening of the
new Vincent facilities at Seaforth
next week. recall a similar event
that took place three years ago at
Ayr.
It was the occasion of the'
opening of a new Vincent building
in Ayr and a news story at
the time described the event in
these words.
"March 15,1969,C.C.Brannan,
president,' International Har-
vester Company of Canada, ,
Limited, cut Ihe ribbon to offic-
ially open the new' 10,000 square
foot Vincent Farm Equipment
Limited building, located on the
northern outskirts of Ayr,
Ontario.
"This farm equipment
dealership, one of the oldest and
largest in Ontario was started
by the late Leslie C. Vincent who
acquired the International Har-
vester franchise at Ayr in 1923.
His two sons Joined him in the
busibess - - Warren in 1943
and Marlen in 1960;7 - taking
over complete operation in 1955.
"The dealership opened new
premises in the main,,, part of Ayr in 1948; and in 1959 an
addition was made to the build-
ing. Ins 1965, the dealership
moved part of- its operation to the
edge of town, where a set-up
building was erected to display
new and used farm' equipment.
"In 1966 , the brothers took
over the Galt Farm and Garden
Equipment operation. In 1968:
they took over the International
Harvester dealership at Seaforth;
Marlen moved there to head the
business; , and Larry Balkwill
moved from sales at Ayr, to
Gait to rrAanaxe that operation.
"In 1966, the village of Ayr
purchased the property where
Vincent Farm Equipment was
located, for 'a. fire hall
and municipal building. It was
then that the Vincent Brothers
decided to build a new building
on the outskirts of Ayr. A total
of 34 people are now employed
by Vincent Farm Equipment

"The spacious new premises
provide unequalled farm equip-
