Rev. Don Beck chose for his Communion' Meditation "The Marks of Christ". The choir sang the anthem "No one understands like Jesus". Join Saturday evening. All the family were present for the Occasion. Later on in the evening they gathered at their parents home for a family get- together. ADULT FELLOWSHIP A box social highlighted the March get together of the Adult Fellowship Group of Hensall United Church Saturday evening. After a fun filled session of games, the beautifully deCorated boxes were capably auctioned off by Dave Kyle. The money re- ceived ,will be given towards the Easter Appeal. It was de- cided that for the April 8 get together, that the group would go to- Exeter High School to see the performance "Patience" to., be put on by the Huronia Male Choir. Linda Bell, R.R.#2, Kippen, has successfully passed her Grade 2 Theory of the Western Conservatory of Music. Charles Mickle, Hamilton, entertained the family to a belated birthday dinner for his f'ther, Mr. Laird Mickle, at the Dominion Hotel, Zurich, last FUNERAL WESLEY G. ROBINSON Wesley G. Robinson passed away in Hensall on' March 1, 1912, in his 74th year. Mr. Robinson was. born on November 11, 1898, and resided in London until 18 years ago when he came to Hensall to live with hiadaugh- ter, Mrs. Jim (Jean) Taylor. He was the beloved husband of the late Gladys Forsyth, and dear father of Cliff, Sarnia; Keith, Detroit; Margaret Louise Mac- Donald, Florida; Mrs. Jim (Jean) Taylor, Hensall,, Also survived by one 'brother, Wilton D. Robinson, London; fourteen 'grandchildren, and one great grandson. The 'body rested at the Bonthron Funeral Chapel, Hensall, where servicewas held Friday, March 3, with Rev. Don neck officiating. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Lon- don. Pallbearers were Dave Taylor, John Taylor, Bill Taylor,' Robert Taylor, Keith Robinson and Tom Robinson. UNIT 4 Unit 4 of Hensall United Church held - - their regular mmthly meeting on Thursday afternoon at the Church. There were 16 members present and one visitor. Mrs. 'J. McAllister prpsided, and opened the meeting with a, thought on " The meaning of Lent" followed by prayer. All enjoyed a ,solo by Mrs. Hess, and a duet by Mrs. C. Britton and Mrs. E. Luther. The study on Africa?, based on racial tensions and conditions in Angola, was given by Mrs. J. Flynn. Mrs. MCAllister gave the devotional entitled "The Reluc- tant Profit". A report of the Presbyterial held in Stratford was given by those who attended. _ , _Hensall council gave tentative approval to a parks board budget of $12,520.50 when it met Monday evening. Robert Baker, spokesman for the Parks Board delegation,. assured council that the Parks Board was without funds, that it would take between $1,200 and $1,300 to pay running expenses for March and that there were a great many repairs needed. Council decided to give the Board $1,018 now and this will be deducted from the $12,520.50 ..budget for 1-972. • Ernie Davis reported snow removal on sidewalks and streets News of St. Columban Correspondent Mrs. Joseph Kale McKILLOP II The first meeting of McKillop II was held at the home of the leader, Mrs. John Moylan, The mothers of the members attended the,meeting. Mrs. Moy- lan gave a brief outline of the projects and the duties of the ,members. Officers were elec- ted as follows - President, Joan- ne Swart; Vice Pres. - Anne Albert; Secretary, Trudy Claes- sens; Treasurer , Marianne Van Bakel; Press Reporter, Donna Nolan, The members. discussed the type of material suitable for their project. The second meeting of Mc- Killop "II was held at Mrs. Moy- lan's on March 2. Minutes were read by Trudy Claessens. The members discussed a name for their club and decided on "Drowsy Dollies".' Mrs, Moylan showed the girls how to pin on a pattern, and to cut out the material. She demonstrated this on material brought by:Judy Dorsey and Ann Albert. , Maple $yrup Festivals "Sap's Running!" That call is spring's invita- tion to the maj3le" sugar bush. This list from food specialists at the Ontario Food Council, Ontario Department Of.Agricul- ture and Food, describes some of the maple syrup festivals and events during March and April. -Each syrup festival May be slightly' different. In most, visitors pay a nominal fee for the bus ride into the bush, plus the sleigh rides, hay rides, and lunch that may also be available The lunch is usually pancakes and sausages with maple syrup - simple and delicious. Maple syrup, -sugar, and maple butter can be purchased, and visitors are invited to make maple taffy on snow. and .some painting done. There are trees to be removed at George Armstrong's, Rowe's and Luker's. He also reported that a replacement clutch was needed for the new tractor. Mr. Davis was appointed weed inspector for 1972. Clerk Earl Campbell reported 14 dog tags sold. Council agreed that a proposed apartment building of eighteen units was necessary to supply needed housing In Hensall and will refer the proposed dis- posal system of wastes • to Wm. Empey of Huron Health Unit at Goderich for his approval. A road budget of $1"3,500 was planned, subject to the approval of the Minister of Transport and Communications. Paul Neilands reported on the meeting of the Ontario Assoc- iation of rural municipalities. COuncil agreed to a rental fee of $.60 plus taxes for the parking lot from the C.N.R. Huron County Library will pay $300 for 1972 for rent, of accom- modations. Hensall's share of the Ausable and 'Hayfield Conservation Society will be $1825.31 for i972. A building permit was issued to Howie Wright for home improvements. , Bills amounting to $5,531.03 were ordered paid. News of VARNA Correspondent .Fred McClymont U.C.W. MEET The United Church 'Women held their March meeting in the basement of the church last Thursday evening with twenty- one members present. The pres- " ident, Mrs. -Ralph Stephenson, opened the meeting with a prayer. Group Two led the devotions under the leadership of Mrs. Roy Elliott which included a poem "Crucify". Scripture and apoem entitled "Richest Hill on Earth" . The offering was taken up and dedicated. A poem "What isHap- pir,...ss' was read and devotions were closed by a poem "Easter Thought". ' Mrs. Stephenson conducted the business period. Mrs. Gordon Johnston read the secretary's report and took the roll call. There were thirty-two calls :to sick arid shut ins during the month of February. Several thank you letters were read among. them one from BrucefielciU.C.W. for the donation and _gift for the kitchen. Mrs. Stephenson gave the treasurer's report. She also gave a report on the Presbyterial meeting that she and others at- tended in Stratford, the theme was ''Realizing a Dream". The meeting was closed by prayer and laach was served. Miss Sylvia Wilson was a guest, on Circle Eight Ranch on Tuesday evening of - last week. Several ladies of the United Church attended the World's Day Of .Prayer in Goshen United Church last Friday afternoon. Mrs. Wm. McAsh is at, pres- ent a patient in Clinton Public Hospital. The members of the local Orange Lodge and their wives held a boWling" party last Satur- day night and afterwards were entertained' at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dowaon: Mr. and Mrs. Fred McCly- mont spent last week with rela- tives at King city and Willow- dale. Churches Correspondent mrs.Joyce Pepper The World Day of Prayer Service was held in the Fellow- ship Hall of Hensall United Church Friday afternoon. AU Hensall churches ,were repre- sented and women taking part in., the service were Mrs. RonMock, Mrs. E, Rowe, Mrs. Bill Mickle, from Hensall U nited; Mrs, Harold Parker, Chiselhurst United; Mrs. D. W. Windover, St. Pauls Angli- can; Mrs. -3. Soldan, Carmel Presbyterian. • Mr's. Dave Kyle, the guest speaker, spoke following the theme, "All Joy be Yours". She said that religion should be a joy, and that we should-, feel gratitude for the things which God has given us, health, free country, freedom to worship, etc. Everyone was asked to try to radiate joy wherever we may go. She , also said that only in the love of others, can we find bill- filment in ourselves, even in sorrow, heartbreak, .a.nd death, the flame of joy never goes out. A vocal solo "Be glad in the Lord and Refoic"e" was given by Mrs. Bill Fuss, with Mrs. John Goddard accompanying.z AMBER REBEKAH LODGE The regular' monthly meet- ing of Amber Rebekah Lodge was ' held Wednesday evening with-N.G. Mrs. Ernie Chipchaie presiding • and being assisted by V.G., Mrs: Bev. Beaton. A number of officers were absent due. to weather conditions and sickness. V.G. reported that there had been cards sent to the sick and shut-ins and also that a birthday card had been sent to Mrs.Nancy Nyle on the occasion of her 87th birthday. It was decided to present the travelling gavel to S.eaforth.on March 27, if it was agreeable with that Lodge.Twelve members plan to go on a bus trip to Thamesford to be guests of the Springtime Lodge on, March 22. The Annual Spring meeting of District 23 will be held .April 12, in Hensall -Lodge Hall. with Past Noble Grands of all 'Rebekah Lodges in the dis- tridt fo attend:' ' A euchre followed the meet- ing sponsored by members of the Rebekah Lodge. There were five tables in play. The weather conditions were not ideal so therefore, there was a small crowd. Prize winners were as follows: Ladies High - Mrs.Nellie Riley; Ladies Low - Mrs.Elgin Thompson; Men's 'High - Cecil Pepper;, Lone Hands - Mrs .. Glenn Bell. • A 'draw for an arrangement of artificial flowers was won by Mrs. Ed. Corbett and a tray won by Mrs. Bev. Beaton.
