lovely raid-winter wedding on
Saturday, February 12th at 5
p.m. when Kaye Marie McCowan,
only daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Peter McCowan, R.R.1, Seaforth
was united in marriage to Mr.
Frederick J. S. Stevenson, eldest
son of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart
Stevenson, R.R. 2, Brussels. Rev.
M. E. Reuber . officiated at the
double ring ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was radiant in
her wedding gown of white French
cut velvet. Made by her mother,
'it was princess style, long fitted
sleeves, roll' collar, the back
- extending into a sweep train,
featuring 'tiny self-covered
buttons from waistline to hem-
line of train. Her long flowing
Cathedral veil of silk illusion,
fell gracefully from a white cut
velvet Camelot- style headpiece.
She carried a cascade of white
.miniature carnations centered
with a large purple-throated
white orchid. and green steph-
anotis leaves.
Mrs. Leta McCowan, sister-
in-law of the bride, was matron
of honor. She wore a floor-
length gown of purple chiffon
velvet with long fitted sleeves,
roll collar, matching shoes and
carried a white fur muff 'adorned
with a corsage of tiny pink
sweetheart roses, white button,
mums, purple statice 'and fern.
Miss Pat Evans, Goderich,friend
of the bride-Nnd Misses Sharon
and Anna Lee Stevenson, sisters
of the groom, were bridesmaids
and were dresSed identical to
the matron of honor. All their
dresses and muffs were made by
the groom's' mother.
Rhonda McCowan, Seaforth,
niece Of the bride, made aCharer-
ing flowergirl in a floor-length
gown of white chiffon velvet, roll
collar, short-puffed sleeves ,and
carried a nosegay of pink sweet-
heart roses, white button mums,
purple statice and fern.
Brian McGowan, nephew of the
bride, ring-bearer, carried the
rings on a: white velvet pillow,
trimmed , 'with white lace and
purple velvet ribbon.
The• groom was attended by
his brother, Mr. Tom Stevenson
of Walton. Ushers were the

lems were assisted.
Mr. Rooney said in the 19
separate schools in the two count-
ies of 'Perth and Huron there
were 176 pupils requiring- spec-
ial education but that there were
another- 205 - in ungraded
programs too. With an enrol-
lment of '3510 pupils Mr. Rooney
said that 381, pupils with, sorpe
learning disorders is close to
the prpvincial average of ten
per cent.

of ceremonies. Guests were re-
ceived by the bride's mother
wearing a floor-length gown ot
rose chiffon velvet and a corsage
of white carnations.-". She was-
assisted .by the groom's mother,
who wore 'a floor-length gown of
green chiffon velvet and a corsage
of pink carnations. The head table
was centered with a beautifully
decorated four-tierred wedding
cake, flanked by purple tapers..
Music for dancing was provided
by the Ian Wilbee Orchestra.
For their wedding trip to the
Southern States the bride chase a
black and white checked • wool
rpldi skirt,, black sweater, black
and white checked cape, lined in
red, this costume also made by
her mother. With it she wore
high black boots, white fur hat
with matching muff and a corsage
of red carnations.
The young couple will reside
at 17 Raitar Avenue, Apt. 6,
Kitchener.
Guests were present from

Ridgeway, Alliston, Kitchener,
Jordan, 'Gormley, Richmond Hill,

Tables for the supper were
decorated with beautiful dolls
from many different countries
.which Mrs. putman has collec-
ted during her years in Guides.
The -1st Seaforth Pack had an
"International Doll Display" on
the stage with flags telling which

hind this was a sign ,.Welcome';
which was done' in Semaphore.
This is one of the reeuirements
the ' Brownies learn at their
meetings.

In scanning the Goderich Signal-Star We note that the
Goderich Signal-Star has purchased a projector fpr use
by local organizations and will be placed in charge of the
Goderich Branch of the Huron County Library. The library
staff will service the projector and insure that a competent
operator accompanies the machine. - - -The dOderich Art
Club disdussed the setting up of the Wednesday evening
workshop on silk screening and also named a committee to
Plan the Summer Art Mart. it will be a three-day exhibition.
Space will be more co-ordinated; septrating the different
sections of Arts and Crafts and other fields of creative
endeavour..........
The Mitchell Advocate reports that -Mr. and Mrs. Harry.
Vlachos. of Caledonia, and formerly' of Mitchell, marked
their 50th wedding anniversary recently. - - - A former
resident of llibbert, John F. Dalton, was honored recently
for his many years of service as a director of the "Boy's
Bureau of Federation." Mr. Dalton, a -native Hibbert,
attended the St. Columban School. - - - Ross Marshall,
Kirkton, has been elected second .vice-president 01 the
Holstein- Friesian Association of Canada.

The Village of Zurich has a new location for waste disposal,
according to clerk-treasurer, W.D.Armstrong. An agree-

The Exeter Times-Advocate reports thatfire completely
destroyed the - farm hOme of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cooper,
early Wednesday.' The Cooper farm is about three miles
west of Exeter. The fire was completely out of control by
the time the DaShwood fire departs Bent reached the scene.
Also on Wednesday; Exeter fire department was called to
extinguish a fire in the barn of Robert Down. On Friday the
same fire department was called to (jell a chimney 'fire at
the hoine of R. E. Pooley. - - Exeter Mayor Jack Delbridge
was named chairman of the new area fire board and
Usborne Councillor, Walter McBride was named vice-
chairman.- - 'The. Exeter, Town Council responded with
reservation Monday night to a proposal from a group of
five young people -who wish to establish a drop-in centre
in town.
The Lucknow Sentinel reports that the three townships,
Ashfield; Kinioss -and West Wawanctsh are investigating
the, possibility of purchasing an auxiliary water tanker
truck which. would give added fire, protection for the three
municipalities.

ested in giving their assistance
, in any part of the Guide Move-
ment, which contributes so
greatly to helping the young
people.
The' Brownie PackS formed
their Brownie Ring around the
Toadstool., Interest Badges' were
presented to the 1st Pack Brown-
ies: Collector, Lynn MeLa.ugha
lin, Gail O'Rourke • and Angelie
Andreassi; Housekeeper; Eileen
Connolly; Skaters, Cindy Anstett,
Lynn McLaughlin, Patti Scott,
Mary Thompson, Jane Ellis,

Siisan Nigh, Debbie Gridzah,
Corrie ilabkirk and Joanne Czer -
winski froth the 2nd Peek. The
girls were introduced to. Mrs.
Stinnissen, Guide Captain,' and
welcomed to Guides by the Patrol
Leaders. Ten of the Guides rep-
resented different countries and,
while holding lighted candles, told
about these countries.
After a brief $ing Song, led
by Carol Racho who is working
on her Campfire Badge,Mrs.
Putman showed a film ken at
the Guide Camp held at-the Pinery
last spring. Matey Guides and
Leaders were surprised as they
didn't know some of this film had
been taken. Mrs. Montgomery
showed slides she had taken in
England. These held the girls
interest and attention as many
of the slides were of Lord and
Lady Baden Powell's home and
background in England.
Those in charge expressed
thanks to the more than 150
mothers, gUests, Brownies and
Guides who made the evening so
enjoyable and to the Guides who
are working 'on their' Hostess
Badge, Ida Stinnissen, Rosemary.
