Plans were made for enter- tainment at the next meeting of January 19th, of Friendship night with exchange of gifts . among Secret Pals. The losing side is responsible for the programme and for a Banquet to be held on the visit of the Assembly president, February 2. It was reported that Mrs. Evelyn McBeath is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, and that a plant was to be sent to her from the Lodge. Following the Lodge meeting a successful euchre, sponsored by, the ladies of the Rebekah Lodge, was held with 11 tables in play. Winners were as fol- lows: ladies' high, Mrs. R.A.Orr; ladies' low, Mrs. Jarvis Horton; men's high, Howard Leminon; men's low, Cecil Pepper; ladies' lone hands, Mrs. Vera Brint- nell; men's lone handst, Archie Parsons. Minutes of the final meeting of 1971 on December 15, which were read, revealed that ,at that meeting 'the resig- nation of Norman Jones as Building Inspector had been accepted with regret. • Wilbert Dilling and Hugh Love presented a complaint to council that water running froni the pro- perty of Boise Cascade was flood- ing their yards and _sidewalks. Council suggested they get in touch withlaoise Cascade. Village foreman, Ernie Davis, reported gravelling boulevards, Work done on the car parking lot, the blockage of a drain. on Queen Street located and reme- died, a drain on Richmond Street cleaned, which ,required digging as well as the use of an auger. He reported work on snow re- moval on sidewalks, roads and in front of the 'Arena. He said that Earl Rowe„ Lukers and Schwalms wished to have trees removed. .Couecil granted permission for purchase of materials to build three shelves in the library and, to repair the walls in the ' men's washroom. A complaint by Gerald Volland regarding the snowplow ripping up his boulevard was discussed. Council decided to tend a letter to the Sales Barn to inform them that they are transgressing a town by-law in disposing of manure. Members were concerned about the behaviour of snow- mobile operators and Commented - that a fewthoughtless drivers can spoil the sport for everyone. It was decided to pass a by-law regulating the use of snowmobiles. in the village. If there is difficulty in enforcing the by-law, it may be necessary to ban Snow- mobiles from the village entirely. Library expenditures .for lighting, heating, inainfenance, janitor, 'etc. were estimated at '. $420.00. The Departmenteof Transport and Communications asked the removal of radar and U turn signs. • Montieth and Montieth. were named auditors for 1072.
