Plans were made for enter-
tainment at the next meeting of
January 19th, of Friendship night
with exchange of gifts . among
Secret Pals. The losing side is
responsible for the programme
and for a Banquet to be held
on the visit of the Assembly
president, February 2.
It was reported that Mrs.
Evelyn McBeath is a patient in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
and that a plant was to be sent
to her from the Lodge.
Following the Lodge meeting
a successful euchre, sponsored
by, the ladies of the Rebekah
Lodge, was held with 11 tables
in play. Winners were as fol-
lows: ladies' high, Mrs. R.A.Orr;
ladies' low, Mrs. Jarvis Horton;
men's high, Howard Leminon;
men's low, Cecil Pepper; ladies'
lone hands, Mrs. Vera Brint-
nell; men's lone handst, Archie
Parsons.
Winner of the angel cake draw
was Mrs. Robert McAllister and
the bag of apples was MIS. Jar-
vis ..Horton. It was announced
that there is to be' a euchre,
sponsored by the C,P.T. Com-
mittee, .to be held ,on January

LEGION -LADIES MEETING
Hensall Legion Ladies Aux-
iliary meeting was held-Tues-
day evening with 1st Vice-Pres-
ident Mrs. Jim Chalmers in, the
chair, in absence of the pres-
ident Mrs. Ernie Davis.
In a draw held recently, spon-
sored by the Ladies Auxiliary, the
money doll was won by Mrs.
Bessie Black of Clinton. It was
decided to have .the Annual Eas-
ter Basket draw in March with
the proceeds going towards the
Crippled ChildreriMystery prize
was won by Mrs . Gordon Munn;
attendance prize by Mrs. Jim
Randall; guessing prize by Mrs.
Aldon yanstone. Mrs. Clarence
Reid, Sports Officer, gave 'her
report and announced that there
would be a Bowling Party com-
ing up in the dear future.
UNIT 4 MEETING
Unit 4 of Hensall United
Church Women met on. Thursday
afternoon with Mrs. J. McAllis-. •
ter presiding. The devotional was
given by Mrs. W. pilling with
the theme being ',Time". Mrs.
C. Britton introduced the new
study book on "Africa". A read-
ing "A • deck of cards" and a
poem. "One little rose", were
.given ''''''''''''' Riley. Members
were reminded of the Annual
Congregational meeting to be
held on January 26th.
Unit 4 are., to be responsible
to entertain the residents at the
Queensway Nursing Herne for
the month of January.
UNIT 2. CHURCH MEETING
'Unit 2 held the first meeting
of the new year on Monday even-
ing.
Mrs. Ron Wareing, acting as
chairtady, welcomed everyone
with a poem called ."For Happy
`New Year". New programme
schedules were handed out. Mrs. -
wareing chose for her Devotional •
the theme, "Keeping Care of
God", using " scripture from
'Psalm 91. The 11;11 call , with a
New Year's Reelution, was ans-
wered with 15 members present.

have planned a Bowling Party

will meet at the church after

Cowboy of the year.

Hensel/ Town Council met
Monday. Minutes of the final
meeting of 1971 on December
15, which were read, revealed
that ,at that meeting 'the resig-
nation of Norman Jones
as Building Inspector had been
accepted with regret.
• Wilbert Dilling and Hugh Love
presented a complaint to council
that water running froni the pro-
perty of Boise Cascade was flood-
ing their yards and _sidewalks.
Council suggested they get in
touch withlaoise Cascade.
Village foreman, Ernie Davis,
reported gravelling boulevards,
Work done on the car parking
lot, the blockage of a drain. on
Queen Street located and reme-
died, a drain on Richmond Street
cleaned, which ,required digging
as well as the use of an auger.
He reported work on snow re-
moval on sidewalks, roads and
in front of the 'Arena. He said
that Earl Rowe„ Lukers and
Schwalms wished to have trees
removed.
.Couecil granted permission
for purchase of materials to
build three shelves in the library
and, to repair the walls in the ' men's washroom.
A complaint by Gerald Volland
regarding the snowplow ripping
up his boulevard was discussed.
Council decided to tend a
letter to the Sales Barn to inform
them that they are transgressing
a town by-law in disposing of
manure.
Members were concerned
about the behaviour of snow-
mobile operators and Commented -
that a fewthoughtless drivers can
spoil the sport for everyone. It
was decided to pass a by-law
regulating the use of snowmobiles.
in the village. If there is
difficulty in enforcing the by-law,
it may be necessary to ban Snow-
mobiles from the village entirely.
Library expenditures .for
