VILLAGE
LITTLE DAMAGE
Little damage has been ob-
served as the result of activity
by Hallowe'en pranksters in
the village. There was an an-
noying amount of window soap-
ing, but this was mild compar-
ed to years gone by when
property damage really am-
ounted to something. Possibly
the Lions' party helps to drain
off the surplus energy on Hal-
lowe'en night itself .

PIER SINKING
Continued storms on Lake
Huron have contributed to the
sad plight of the south pier at
Bayfield harbor. The extreme
end of the pier is gradually
sinking into the water, having
been cracked away from the
main section and now presents
a sad sight. The harbor chan-
nel, only tecvsttly dredged out
at considerable expense, is fil-
led in again, and larger fishing
vessels are having to berth in
Goderich. Soundings have found
a narrow deep channel close
to the north pier, possibly in-
dicating some scouring, and
possibly the cause of the har-
bor filling in from the north.

Do Your Bit
Bayfield residents, veterans particularly, are re-
minded that the annual Remembrance Day service
will be held at the memorial in Clan Gregor Square
at 12:15 on Sunday.
All veterans are asked to meet in front of The
Albion Hotel at 10:30 for the parade to Trinity Anglic-
an Church where a service of remembrance will be
held. Following the church services, all congregations
will meet in the park for the brief service which will
pay tribute to those who gave their lives in World
War I and II and in Korea.
There will be a color party in attendance, to-
gether with members of the Scouts, Cubs and Brown-
ies. It is to be hoped that as many as possible will
pay tribute where it is due. It is solely through the
sacrifices of the men to be honored on this day that
the people of Bayfield are free to participate in such
a service. Be there, and remember them.
Let's Fo!low Through !
With the hearing on re-incorporation of the Vill-
age of Bayfield on the agenda for November 19 at
11:00 a.m. at the Town Hall, the point has been raised
that an enthusiastic attendance by members of the
Bayfield Ratepayers Association will have some effect
on the decision.
While theoretically the decisions of the Ontario
Municipal Board are made on a purely judicial basis,
there is room for the thought that enthusiastic at-
tendance by proponents of incorporation will sway
the board members to some extent.
With this in mind, the executive of the Bayfield
Ratepayers' Association has asked that as many mem-
bers as possible make a point of attending, in order
to show the Ontario Municipal Board members that
the citizenry generally, are not taking the matter
lightly.
Re-incorporation of the village is important in
many ways to the growth and improvement of the
community. Everyone who lives in the confines of
the area outlined by the Association has a stake in the
matter and should represent his or her own interests
by being present.
The proposal for re-incorporation has been well
organized and no doubt will be well presented. The
final straw on the camel's back, so to speak, may be
the attendance of interested citizens. Be one of
these. By your attendance, attest that the re-incor-
poration of the village is important to you.
The recently formed Bayfield Businessmen's As-
sociation found itself confronted with the fact that
many important projects must await the outcome of
the Board's decision. The decision of the Board can
have an important effect on our lives and livelihood
for years to come. Now is the time to stand up and
be counted as an enthusiastic supporter of the Village
of Bayfield. Be there, and by your presence, show
your interest.
