TV VIEWS
By William Whiting
Bolstered by the greatest ar-
ray of manpower and electron-
ic equipment in its history, tele-
vision rose to the immense
challenge of meaningful U.S.
election-night coverage a n d
brought off its assignment with
accuracy, speed and a deep-
seated sense of responsibility.
CBS did the hest job of re-
porting. NBC's team of Hunt-
ley-Brinkley made several er-
rors, and no attempt was made
to correct them. ABC did a
good job of interviewing impor-
tant people and keeping their
viewers up-to-date by superim-
posing latest figures at the
bottom of the screen.
CBC's coverage was good.
CTV used Larry Henderson at
11 p.m. for a special report,
and we can only ask "why"? * * *
Peter Sellers and one of the
most impressive casts ever as-
sembled for a television drama-
tic program will star in the
first of a series of four special
programs based on the United
Nations activities, on ABC De-
cember 28th at 9:30. It's titled
"Carol for Another Christmas"
and in addition to Sellers,
there's Ben Gazzara, Peter
Fonda, Sterling Hayden, Pat
Hingle, Steve Lawrence, Percy
Rodriguez, Eva Marie Saint,
James Shigeita and Robert
Shaw.

A 60-minute tribute to Sir
Winston Churchill on the oc-
casion of his 90th birthday will
be seen on the CBC Monday,
November 30th, at 8 p.m. * * *
The Australian Broadcasting
Commission has purchased a
Wayne and Shuster Hour pro-
duction from the CBC.
