Let's Attend
WHILE THE logical mind goes along with the
proposition that the hearings of the Ontario Muni-
cipal Board are carried out in a purely judicial atmos-
phere, it is not beyond comprehension that an en-
thusiastic attendance of Bayfield citizens will give
strength to the appeal for re-incorporation of Bay-
field as a village, distinct and separate from the
townships of Stanley and Goderich.
In view of the smallness of the population of
Bayfield, and in view of what seems to be policy of
the Board to resist incorporation of such small
entities, it appears that any edge that can be gained
should be taken. About the only available edge is
presence and enthusiasm. The figures pretty well
speak for themselves, but figures alone may not
do it.
Presence and enthusiasm might just turn the
tide. So let's be there, and show the Ontario Muni-
cipal Board that this desire for re-incorporation is
a real and living thing. Plan right now to be present
at 11.00 a.m. November 19. A lot hangs on your
presence.
Why Not Bayfield?
ATTENDANCE at an "arty-crafty" show of art-
work and handicrafts at East Caledon last Saturday
showed beyond a doubt that Bayfield has been mis-
sing the boat in respect to showing off the handicrafts
and artistic ability of many in this neighborhood.
The small building in Caledon East was swamped
by visitors from morning to dark, to view and pur-
chase the work of not more than a dozen or so
exhibitors, whose work ranged from the magnificent
to the mediocre.
There is no reason on earth why the artisans
of Bayfield and district could not put on a show
five or ten times as large and as good. We have
the talent, we have the arena, all we need is a co-
ordinating body, and the thing shall be accomplished.
With the artists we have in the area, with the
antique dealers, makers of fine preserved fruits and
wonderful home baking, with the craftsmen of var-
ious kinds we have literally hiding their talents,
there is no reason, why next May, we cannot have
a show that will knock the spots off anything that
East Caledon can offer.
Lets' get with it, and put Bayfield on the map,
arty-crafty wise.
