Last Sunday was the first
anniversary of the asc.nssina-
tion of President Kennedy with
all networks featuring "spec-
ials" throughout the day. The
films and interviews we saw
pointed up the significant as-
pects of his boyhood, war ser-
vice, political career and world
leadership. It was • a day to
remember his wit, charm and
personality.

That wasn't a real buffalo
in a recent episode of Petticoat
Junction. Real buffaloes are
too ornery to be trained far
any role more demanding than
unseating as rodeo rider. To por-
tray the buffalo, a taxidermist
did a make-up job on a four-
year-old Hereford bull.

Woodlots Association
The Huron District Woodlots
Association under the direction
of J. N. Watson of RR 4,

gram off very well with the
successful completion of its
first meeting.
This last Wednesday, a
Christmas tree meeting was
held and attended by about 50
growers and retailers. The
meeting was chaired by I. C.
Marriott of Galt, and included
Mr. Doug Drysdale of the De-
partment of Lands and Forts,
'r am MacRae

who talked about marketing
and retailing of Christmas
frees. Following Mr. Drysdale
was a panel discussion of re-
tailing. Included in the panel
was Mr. Tom Quibell of Kitch-
ener, George Grundy of RR 3,
Acton, and Ralph McMillan of
RR 4, Galt. These men had a
total retailing experience of
about 80 years.
The next project is a meet-
ing sponsored by the Associa-
tion and the Department of
Lands and Forests. This is to
be a field meeting to be held on
Friday, November 27th at 1:30,
p.m. on the farm of Mr. How-
ard Schmidt, which is located
one mile north of Baden.
The program will include de-
monstrations on tree planting,
marking trees in the woodlot,
marketing, timber estimating
and others.
This should be of particular
interest to woodlot owners and
all are certainly welcome to
attend.
