Last Sunday a unique and
spectacular production was
seen on the CTV network on
the eve of Sir Winston Chuch-
ill's 90th birthday. With Noel
Coward as host, it spanned 90
years of entertainment linked
to Churchill's own adventurous
life and times.
Edmund Hockridge, the six-
foot two-inch Canadian-born
singer appeared in the late 1947
segment when Churchill was
leader of the Opposition to the
Socialist Government. Each
segment of the program was
related by still photographs to
a period in Churchill's life. It
was truly a good program and
a scoop for CTV over CBC and
NBC. * * *
Another special, "The Lou-
vre", was seen last Thursday
on the CTV network. It was
entertaining, educational and
well written. Perhaps this pro-
gram could have used 90 min-
utes, instead of the hour.

"Peyton Place" continues to
hold a big audience. In one of
the episodes this month you'll
F
see George Anderson ropidly
approaching an emotional
point-of-no-return, his wife and
freinds helpless to assist. This
is typical of soap operas, but
ABC isn't worrying, because
they have the big audience
Tuesdays and Thursdays at
9:00.

ABC's Sunday Night Movie
on December 20th is "Pocket-
full of Miracles", starring
Glenn Ford, Bette Davis and
others. And' speaking of motion
pictures, the First Niter on
Channel 13 Saturdays at 7:30
continues to be a top notch.
This week it's "King Richard
and the Crusaders", with Rex
Harrison and Virginia Mayo.

Perry Como visits the Eter-
nal City of Rome in his special.
Christmas program to be seen
on CBC-TV Monday, December
14th, at 8 o'clock Bing
Crosby's show will feature
Christmas music on ABC Mon-
day, December 21st.
