This is probably no mean claim,at that. Any sort of contest up there is bound to be keen, whether it be skiing, sled running or arm wrest- ling or likker drinking. Although my talented sister Flo. Whyard is the editor, I cannot for- bear from saying that it is almost as presentable a sheet at The Bay- field Bulletin. Being an offset sheet, it is subject to the same devilish gremlins that invade our columns. More next week when we may get a chance to delve a bit deeper into this journalism of the North. ,=11146 MERIN Drainage • • •(Cont. from Page 1) He also referred to Bayfield's well-known park and he expressed the view that a bit of planning and work could make it much more useful. NAME Street City or Town Province or State (Please Include Postal Zone If Any) Booklet Designed To Rescue Farmers From Weed Jungle The agriculture department has come out with a booklet designed to rescue farmers from the jungle of names applied to common weeds. K. F. Best of the department's experimental farm at Swift Current, Sask; has compiled a booklet call- ed"Common Names of Weeds in Canada. Stinkweed for example, is known to farmers in various regions as penny-cress, fanwee, Frenchweed, wild garlic, mithridate mustard or bastard-cress, the department notes in its weekly information bulletin. By looking up the name under which he knows a plant, a farmer can find all the other common names used for it and the proper Latin names as well -- thiaspi arvense in the case of stinkweed. The most popular common name in designated along with the pro- per Latin one. Mr. Best says the booklet should clear up some confusion in cor- respondence between farmers and the department. "Thus a farmer wishing to inquire about control of a plant which he knows as Johnny-go-to-bed-at-noon on checking the list, will find that he is refering to goat's- beard, or, to us the scientific name, tragopogon dubius". Copies of the booklet may be obtained from the Swift Current farm. 1111111811111011111111111IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMI1211211•111111•11•111111111111111101111M111M11101 TWO PANTS SUITS SIPEC MAILS THIS IS THE SMART TIME TO BUY AND MAKE UNUSUAL s v.
