Reeve Glenn Webb of Stephen
is to be congratulated on his
election to the highest office
which the County of Huron can
offer, the Wardenehip. He was
elected last week on a vote
which was decisive, 23-16 over
Reeve Cliff Dunbar of Gray Tow
nehip.
The new Warden has been the
reeve of Stephen for the past
eight years and was formerly a
councillor for 10 years. He is
a member of the Parkhill Mas-
onic Lodge, a Shriner, a mem-
ber of St. Peter's Lutheran
church at Zurich, an honorary
member of the Royal Canadian
Legion at Grand Bend and is a
former public school board m-
ember. He is married and has
two children.
Mr. Webb is the first war-
den from Stephen Township
since Jack Morrissey was elec-
ted seven years ago.
Upon announcement of the
vote, Mr. Webb was escorted to
the chair by retiring warden
Ralph Jewell, who turned over
the gavel and the chain of
office. His Honor Judge R.S.
Hetherington of Wingham admin-
istered the oath of office.
The new warden, in contemp-
lating a busy year ahead, indi
cated there could well be more
taxation arising from commit-
ments to county hospitals, the
building program at Huronview
and other projects.
We are happy to note that
the new warden not only is a
strong believer in the worth
of county council as being the
municipal body "closest to the
people' but also made it clear
that council activities must
reach the public through the
press in order to maintain a
well-informed electorate.
The traditional ceremonies
were carried out, with Rev. G.
Russell of St. George's Angl-
ican church, Goderich giving
the invocation. Goderich May-
or, Frank Walkom welcomed the
council members. Clerk John G.
Berry welcomed eight new mem-
bers of council, including
Brig. F.A. Clift of the rece-
ntly re-incorporated Village
of Bayfield.

Our esteemed friend The Blyth Stand-
ard has a cool comment for those who en-
joy (T) trips to Florida:
'If one can believe the reports heard
on radio and television. our local resid-
ents who have made the long trek to Flor-
ida this winter to escape the unpleasant-
ness of winter, must be wondering if it
was worth the While. Apparently the therm-
ometer has dipped to the low thirties in
the 'sunny south' and Jack Frost has even
been making the odd visit".
The Bulletin's new format and change of
printing system seems to have been well re
ceived. We are not as familiar with the re
quirements of offset printing as we might
be, hence there are still a few "bugs' to
shake out of the mechanical end of things.
There have been some kind comments on the
high quality of reproduction on photogra-
phy, and we believe these are merited. It
is hoped that The Bulletin will be able to
exploit this capability not only in the n-
ews columns, but in the advertising as well
because many businesses can best be expla-
ined by pictures, each of which the Chine-
se are credited with claiming, is worth
II a thousand words". At present there is
no charge for photography or engraving for
advertising purposes, so businessmen, put
on your thinking caps and take advantage
of this plus value. Simply phone 96 or 38
or drop a note to Box 94, Bayfield and
you'll get action on your request.
