The Reeve's letter
bearing the date of
December 28, is add-
ressed to George Bell
chamber, secretary of
The Bayfield Ratepay-
ers' Association, and
is as follows:
"Dear Mr. Bellchamber:
"Because I have been
elected as Reeve of
our re-incorporated
village for 1965, I
feel that I must res-
ign as president of
The Bayfield Ratepay-
ers' Association. I do
not think that the
same person should
hold both positions
because the ratepayers
association should be
free to develop it's
own approach to civic
problems.
"Will you, therefore
present this resignat-
ion to the directors,
and with effect from
today.
"according to our
constitution, Mr.Jack
Tillmann, vice-pres-
ident, should take
over my responsibil-
ities at least for
the present.
"I wish to remain an
active and interested
member of the assoc-
iation, and feel stran
gly that this organiz-
ation should be main-
tained at fullest and
most effective streng-
th.It should be repres
entative of both perm-
anent and summer resi-
dente and should do
it's best to maintain
its dual responsibil-
ity in view of the
special character and
unusual problems of
our village.
"It should be clear
to everyone, as it cer
tainly is to the dir-
ectorate, that if we
had not organized a
ratepayers' associat-
ion we should not
have achieved re-in-
corporation this year.
There are still many
problems which, in
their solution, requ-
ire the advice and
assistance of an act-
ive association of
the strongest possible
membership.
"I should like to
assure the associat-
ion that in carrying
out my duties as ree-
ve during the next
year I will be glad
to receive all the ad
vice and assistance
the association can
give me.
"Yours sincerely,
"Frederick A.Clift."
