The Dept. of Lands & Forests reports
an attempt was made last winter to do
a survey on the hunting pressure on
European Hare in seven Huron to-rnships
and three Bruce townships. Patrols by
car, plane and on foot were carried out
From Dec.6 to Lar.27, considering on
ly Saturdays, 1,594 hunter days were
spent by area nimrods who averaged ab-
out half a rabbit apiece. Locals out-
numbered non-residents by five to one.
The Saturday kills totalled 2,500
Jacks,398 Snoushoe,361 Cottontails and
36 Fox. It appeared that only a quar-
ter of the Jacks sighted were shot.The
Deuartment men estimated there are 13
or more Jacks per scuare mile,E.K.Dre-
yer reports.
This being the case,anyone -cith a .

reasonable figure would be well advise

Program. A spe

the Hospital has
been established,

teers are assign
ed to various
duties- in the
wards; gift shoe,
arts and crafts
department; shop
work; entertain-
ment, etc. Each
volunteer will be
given his or her
personal badge at
the Volunteer offic
e.
In reviewing the
entertainment sup
plied, many clubs,
groups and individ
uals have given of
their time and tal
ent. Regular

have eroved a real
source of pleasure
Birthday parties
are a regular mon
thly feature. Ea
ch celebrant re-
ceives a gift and
a special program
for the event is
carried out, with
the never -overlook
ed birthday cake.

therapy. Scrap

ated by several
building firms, a

natches has been
supplied by merch
ants and by hospit
al personnel. Sev

out the hospital.
