Tornado, Olsmobilets front *heel drive car,is the
most radical development in production automobiles
for 1966. It is 211 inches long, but only four and
one half feet high, and its fast-back design and
long, low silhouette are the pacesetters for the
whole Olsmobile line. Tornado is an entire new ser-
ies featuring great luxury, flat floors for more
passenger space and comfort, and its own unique ver-
sion of the Turbo-Hydra-Matic transmission and new
385 horsepower Rocket V-8 engine with 10.5:1 comp-
ression ratio. Flat floors are made possible by the
front wheel drive. Elimination of the drive shaft
makes the floor tunnel unnecessary and reduces vib-
ration and noise in the passenger compartment.
