It is 211 inches long, but only four and one half feet high, and its fast-back design and long, low silhouette are the pacesetters for the whole Olsmobile line. Tornado is an entire new ser- ies featuring great luxury, flat floors for more passenger space and comfort, and its own unique ver- sion of the Turbo-Hydra-Matic transmission and new 385 horsepower Rocket V-8 engine with 10.5:1 comp- ression ratio. Flat floors are made possible by the front wheel drive. Elimination of the drive shaft makes the floor tunnel unnecessary and reduces vib- ration and noise in the passenger compartment. Automobiles New exterior ornam- entation emblems and name plates give a distinctive touch to Chevrolet's low-lying silhouette. All mod- els have newly styled front fenders and grilles, rear quart- ers, decl lid, front and rear bumpers and distinctive tail lamps. Available on all Caprice models this year are adjustable front seat headrests, a tilt-steering wheel and a bucket seat for the driver that can be power-adjusted four ways. Strato- bucket seats are st- andard on the Caprice sport coupe, while a Strato-bench front seat with centre arm rest is available on the Caprice sport sedan. There is a new pan- el ornamentation and cluster styling in all models. Impala's new "sport option"for the sport coupe and convertible includes Strato-bucket seats, centre floor console and "SuperSport" ex- terior identification Both these models ha- ve dramatic new styl- ing this year, includ- ing new quarter-panels and a new treatment of moldings both front 1 and rear. There are black-accented side and rear moldings, slender sill and hood windsplit moldings and bright roof-drip moldings. Like all Chevys for '66, Bel Air and Biscayne also feature bold new styling of fenders, bumpers and grille with a full- size carload of stan- dard features with many options. Broader Power Choice Chevrolet for 1966 has a wider selection in transmissions, pow er plants and power teams than ever befo- re. The basic L-Six has 250 Cu.in. displ- acement and 155 hp while the V8 standard has 283 cu.in. and is rated at 195 hp. There is a 327 V8 with horsepower incr- eased to 275, a 396 V8 with 325 hp and two new V8's with 390 and 425 horsepow- er. There is a new automatic choke for all optional V8's and a new easy-to-operate ignition switch. A three-speed fully syn- chronized transmission is standard and off- ers smooth, easy shi- fts. A four-speed tr- ansmission and a new three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic are available. Altogether Chevro- let offers 16 power teams this year. A new extra-cost suspension for optio- nal Turbo-Jet V8 engines includes high er -rate front and rear coil springs, firmer shock absorb- ers, heavy-duty front stabilizer, rear sta- bilizer and new wide- base 14 x 6 wheels and larger tires, in addition to an impr- oved brake system durably built with new corrosion resis- tant brake lines. The new engines cover a wide range of performance require- ments. The Turbo-Thr- ift Six features thin wall construction to hold down weight,and efficiency and econ- omy are derived from a single-barrel car- buretor, automatic choke, economy-cont- oured camshaft and short-stroke design At the other end of the scale, the Turbo-Jet 427 V8 giv- es a compression ratio of 11:1 and has a large four-barrel carburetor, mechanic- al valve lifters,dual exhaust system,high- strength pistons and double-belt water pump and fan drive. NEW COLORS FOR '66 Eighteen exterior colors are available, 11 of them new. Chevelle for 1966 has sweeping new roof lines with its low sporting profile em- phasized by gleaming moldings on wheel op- enings, sills, rear quarter panels,grille and windshield. In its third year, ' Chevelle offers com- plete line of cars in its size and price range with Malibu and Chevelle 300. The ec- onomic Chevelle 300 Series offers a con- vertible,two-and-four door sedans and a station wagon. You can tailor your '66 Malibu sport coupe and convertible to your sporting tas- te with dozens of op- tions and custom fea- tures. For instance, a new "sport option" provides a between- the-seats console with four speed automatic, with a large storage area , and an electr- ic clock, and strato- bucket seats. If you order powerglide or four speed with the console, the shift lever is floor-mount- ed . When the 396 V8 is ordered with the- sport option the three speed transmission is floor mounted in a trim console. Other options incl- ude tachometer, mag- style or simulated wire wheel covers, si- ntered-metallic brak- es and Positraction rear axle. Bayfield Bulletin, All Chevelles for '66 feature Full Coil suspension with dou- ble-acting shock ab- sorbers at each wheel. The steering is Ball-Race and gives firm control with great manoeuv- ability. Chevelle has a standard 120-hp Six or a standard 195 hp 283 V8, but you can specify a 140 hp Six or other V8 eng- ines ranging up to a 275 hp 327 V8 and the even more powerful 396 V8 engine for use with the Malibu sport option. Chevy 11 is all new for 1966 with st- Oct. 14/65, Page 5 yling typified by the new Nova Super Sport. From the handsome one-piece aluminum grille with its int- egrated single-unit headlamps right thr- ough to the redesig- ned rear end, the car is all new. Sleek lines in the roof, a cleanly executed hood and front fenders , panoramic windows, a rear deck accented by a wide ribbed br- ight metal molding extending its entire width--these are just some of the features.
