Elliott & family, Kitchener, spent the weekend with his mother Mrs. W. R. Elliott. They visited Mr. W. R. Elliott, who is a patient in Westmin ister Hospital on Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. C. Willock spent last week at their cot- tage on Bayfield Terrace, with the- ir children, Cath- ie, Douglas & Ain- slie joining them for the week-end. Five-year-old Colleen Smith is a lucky child. She has a book and she loves it. So? "Too many children live in homes where books are not considered important", declares the Canadian Home and School and Parent Teacher Federation, which is spon- soring as a Centennial project a $ 50,000 public information campaig- n to combat the problem. The slogan will be: "Place a book in the hands of your child". The Association deplores what it considers the "distressing number" of Canadian children denied full growth of mind and spirit for lack of books in the home.It's one of the major causes of drop-outs,they say. tolootion...•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• De00000.404Wmplomme.001,10.9004.m.4.00 If Esther continues to earn this amount from her business until age 65, she and her husband. who is disabled and cannot work, can look forward to a retirement income of S104.17 from the Plan and S75 from Old Age Security— a total of 5179.17 a month. When her husband receives Old Age Security, their income will he 5254.17 a month. CP B5(: Should Esther die anytime after 1967. haying contributed until her death, her husband will receive a disabled widower's pension of S64.06 a month until he reaches age 65. At that time. or if he is already 65 when Esther dies, his pension under the Plan will be S62.50 a month plus S75 a month Old Age Security. On the death of his w ife. Mr. Meyer will also he entitled to a lump sum payment of S500. All benefits under the Plan will maintain their value. The actual benefits payable will probably be higher than those given here since benefits will he adjusted to meet changes in living costs and in wage levels before they are paid and changes in li‘ ing costs after they become payable. What will the Plan cost you? If, like Esther, vou have self- employed earnings of S5,S00 a year. you will pay SI58.40 a year which is 3.6"„ of S4.400, the maximum amount upon which contributions are payable. Payment will he in instalments in the same ‘yay you pay your income tax.
