How many times have net-
work officials heard "I want
more Money or I won't play
the role and the piogram won't
be a success". Many performers
have made this mistake. They
don't use these exact words,
but what they say means the
same thing.
It's been announced that
"The Honeymooners" will re-
turn to the east of the Jackie
Gleason Show during the 1966-
67 season. Art Carney has been
signed to return to his role, but
negotiations to get Audrey
Meadows to return failed. Sing-
er-comedienne Sheila MacRae'
has been signed to play the role
of Jackie Gleason's wife. Al-
though Audrey Meadows was
perfect for the part, we have
no doubt that Sheila MacRae
will do equally as well.
This seems to happen so
often in showbusiness. Remem-
ber when Chester (Dennis
Weaver) left "Gunsmoke" to
have his own television show?
The replacement character fit-
ted in very nicely with Matt
Dillon.
Remiernber when Carol Bur-
nett left the "Gerry Moore
Show" to do bigger and better
things? The following season
she returned for a few guest
appearances and we imagine
she realized her mistake in
quitting the cast.
Remember Toby Robins who
left the panel of "Front Page
Challenge"? She held out for
more money and the CBC said
"nothing doing". She was re-
placed and very ably too, by
CFRB's Betty Kennedy.
There's one entertainer (and
a great one, too) who didn't
make the mistake of leaving
the star of the show for bigger
things. You can probably think
of some as well. I'm referring
to Rochester who never left
Jack Benny.
Smart man, that Rochester!

Zone Forester
Larry Sales
Feted By Council
(By R. S. ATKEY)
GODERICH — Larry Sales,
zone forester with Ontario De-
partment of Lands and For-
ests, presented his annual re-
port on the Huron Reforesta-
tion Scheme to Huron County
Council Monday afternoon, and
then was honoured with the
presentation of a desk set by
Reeve Ernest Talbot, Stanley.
chairman of Agriculture and
Reforestation, in behalf of
Council.
After being in Huron County
for nine years, he leaves short-
ly to take a new post as Farm
Forester with the Departn-pent
at Pembroke, Renfrew County.
Mr. Scales painted out that
the cost of planting trees was
only $1 per hundred to the own-
er. Total cost of planting this
spring was $1,220, with county
and township sharing this cost
equally. Trees planted number-
ed 58,880 on 71 acres in West
Wawanosh, Turnberry, Stephen,
Goclerich and Ashfield town-
ships.
Mr. Sales stated that he re-
gretted leaving Huron County
as his reforestation scheme was
a "dream", certainly unique. It
was very gratifying to work
in a county where reforestation
is appreciated.
"And, too," he added, "you
are one of the greatest bunch
of cigar smokers I ever met."
Which remark produced quite
a chuckle!

lop Township, remarked to the
36 other members and officials,

no absentees.
A bountiful harvst seems to
be in the making, he comment-
ed. People should be thankful
to live in this area.

Huron County
Farming Report
Don S. Pullen, associate
agricultural representative
for Huron County, issues the
following farming report:
"Warm showers have given
all CIA/1lb a boost in Huron
County. Observations would
indicate that hay and pasture
amps are nearly normal in
growth for this time of year.
However, some areas of the
county, forages, particularly
legumes, hit earlier by frost
will likely yield below nor-
mal.
"Some white beans are up,
but a siubstAntial acreage re-
mains to be planted. Moisture
may be too abundant in some
fields for good growth of
beans.
"Pastures for livestock ap-
pear to be in ample supply."

Use Caution
In Handling
All Pesticides
Gardeners today expect pesti-
cides to be fast-acting and
deadly. In order to be effective
these chemicals must necessar-
ily be' dangerous if used care-
lessly. Caution with toxic ma-
terials cannot be overstressed.
Entomologists with the Ontario
Department of Agriculture and
Food warn that certain pre-
cautions must be observed:
1. Read and follow all the
directions on the container
carefully.
2. Use only as much chemical
as directed.
3. Don't spray or dust on
windy days, as drift may cause
damage to neighbouring plants.
4. Daryt spray or dust when
the temperature is over 85°F,
as burns to the plant foliage
may result.
5. Wear rubber gloves when
handling toxic sprays or dusts.
6. Don't smoke or eat when
applying pesticides.
7. Wash all treated, edible
plants thoroughly.
8. Stare pesticides in a locked
cupboard, well out of reach of
children and domestic anlimals.
9. Do not transfer any in-
secticides to other containers
than the one they are packaged
in.
10. Do not use food containers
to measure or Store pesticides.
11. Be sure empty containers
are disposed of in the garbage.
