A report was read from Dr. Aldis of Goderich, in which he said that water samples taken from Bayfield harbour and beaches were found to be very good. Building permits are nowavailable at the clerks office. Council members brought to the attention of council that on Sun- day July 21st, a 60 man pipe band will give a concert in Clan Gre- gor Square and later parade throu- gh the village. The band shortly leaves for New York for a three day engagement. An additional three tons of calci um chloride is to be laid on Tuyll Street. Water is also to be spr- ayed in an effort to combat the dust problems. Brigadier G.L.Morgan Smith, the Bayfield School Board member re- ported to council..He said that the Central School building is on schedule, and should be roof- ed in by August, when asked if twenty-one rooms were necessary, he said that the Area School Board felt they were necessary if all school children in the area were to be accomodated at thirty- five to a classroom. He also said that the Board would be able to use 200 desks from the schools to be closed down and added that am- ong the teachers hired two were qualified to level two. New Busines.3 Mrs. Guy Emerson is the prop- rietor of Bayfield's newest bus- iness establishment, Emerson's Canadian Crafts,located in the former Adam Flowers gift shop. Mrs. Emerson is a weaver or note and has installed two of her big looms in the shop, and is now in production of a variety of hand woven items. Ceramics, iaintings of local scenes, a variety of craft work, needlepoint, fancy soaps, bathing caps, film and cosmetics are also on hand to make interesting and varied sh- opping for the visitor. (Staff Photo) EARLY COPY Social News Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pounder, Kathy, John, and Mary-Beth, Chatham, were in the village for thff weekend. Miss Mary-Beth, who is only seven had the misfortune to break her left arm shortly before they were due to leave for home, we are happy to report that she is progressing far ourably. Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Moore are in re- sidence at "Fairlawn" their summer home. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Deering and fam- ily of London are holidaying north of Bayfield. Mr. and Mrs.. G. Bellchamber and Neil, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Elliot, Burlington last week end. Mr. Elliot who was formerly a Clinton Councillor, accompanied his guests on a tour of Toronto City Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith of London and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Smith, Ch- ristine and Janice of Brantford, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Smith for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ford of London are in residence at Miss W000lfen' den's cottage on Howard St. for the summers Mrs. R.Roy Fitzsmons is home again after relieving for eight days on the switchboard at the C.F.B. Clinton. Mrs. W.W. Erickson visited her sii ter, Mrs. Gordon Stewart and fam- ily in Kincardine on Monday. In answer to a question, Brig. Smith said that the Bayfield School will be sold by auction in the early spring. Councillor E. Oddleifson report- ed that he is awaiting a reply to a letter sent to the Ontario Hydro regarding the replacement of eight lights on Main St. by fluorescent lamps and an additional three. lights to be erected elsewhere. Council appointed E.W. Oddleifsonn as their representative on the Bay- field Planning Board committee, with Reeve MacFadden to act as exx officio member. The first meet- ing to be held. Friday July 22nd at 8 p.m. in the Village Hall. Coming Events MASSED PIPE BANDS of district Royal Canadian Legion branches will play in Clan Gregor Square commencing at 2.00 p.m. this Sunday. Monday night will be the new dead line for news and advertising copy for The Bulletin commencing next week. Please get copy in early. Mrs. R.Roy Fitzsimons received word on Friday of the death of her aunt, Mrs. Thomas A.Sproal, who was in her 97th year. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Fitzsimons, Karen and Kelso attended the funeral in Brampton. The Brownie and Cubs packs, with their leaders attended Trinity Anglican Church in a body on Sun- day when two of their members, Brownie Lea Ann McLeod and Cub Kelvin Merner received their Re- lion and Life badges. Rev.E.J.B. Harrison asked the leaders, Cub- Mater Milvena Erickson and Brown Owl Dorothy McLeod to present the awards. Karen Candela, who has been visit- ing her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Brisson, returned to her home in Grosse Pointe on Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Candela, who were here for the weekend.
