and showmg a calf Were given.
The lessen on the ''History and
Breed of Cattle" was discussed
and a quiz followed.

Meets In Park

The annual meeting of the
Pioneer Park Association was
held for the first time in the
Park, Saturday, August 13, with
a good attendance.
Canon F. H. Paull thanked all

%ally Mrs. R. G. Hunter for con-
vening the rummage sale which
netted over $565, arid Gordon
and Alan Galbraith for their
'continued interest in providing
the weekly movies throughout
the summer.
There has been a good at-
tendance each Thursday even-
ing but the voluntary collee-

and little people are getting
more than their money's worth!
The erection of the split-rail
fence has been completed and
the Association is pleased with
the improvement.
A committee has been formed
to inquire into obtaining the
services of a professional park
planner to landscape and set
out memorial trees.
The aim of the Association
is to improve the park so tha t
.it will become an asset to the
community and a pleasant place
to enjoy a quiet view of the
lake.
The membership committee
enlisted 23 new members during
Louisa St. 'the past year.
Chairman of nominations re-
ported the following slate of
directors for the ensuing three
years: Mrs. Wm. Tillmann. J. R.
R. Willock and Miss K. M.
Reid.
At the directors' meeting held
immediately following, Canon
F. H. Paull was re-elected pres-
ident.; Prof. H. K. Kalbfleisch,
vice-president; and Miss K. M.
Reid, secretary.
Directors are H. H. Ormond,
H. K. Kalbfleisch, Mrs. John
MacKenzie, Mrs. William Park-
er. and Gordon Galbraith.
R. Roy Fitzsimons will be
asked to audit the books.
HAYFIELD - -- At the regular
meeting of Huron County
School Area No. 1 on August 11,
the board accepted the oil ten-
der of Ross Scott, Brueefield at
12.70 cents per gallon.
Mrs. Fred Chapple, RR 3,
Scaforth and Spencer Ervine,
Bayfield, were awarded con-
tracts for Egrriondville and Bay-
field schools respectively.
Good progress is being made
at the site of the Central
School at Brucefield.
Staff Announced
The staff has been selected
for the opening of the Fall term
starting on September 6. They
will be teaching in the present
schools of Bayfield, Stanley and
Tuckersinith until the new
building is completed.
Arnold Mathers has been ap-
pointed principal of the new
school. He comes from the Vs -
borne Central School, where Eti ,
has just gone through the ex-
ercises of closing out the one
room schools in that township
and opening the new school.
On Mr. Mathers' advice, there
will be a partial grading of the
sehouls Stanley, in order that
the children throughout the
arra may he provided with a
common. standard of instruction
that will facilitate- the trans-
ition in January to a completely
:.r.raded school. Mr. Mathers has
drawn a common syllabus, and
will be assisting all the teachers
in their problems preparatory
to the (mm:rover.
Mr. Mittherz; will be opening
up it bimporary office in lien-
sall in conjunction with the
Newish Secretary, John Caldwell,

of thanks to retiring members
