BAYFIELD SCHOOL COMMITTEE ENGAGES LONDON LAWYER
Our safe, sandy
beaches with their
trained Beach Patrol
Officers delude par-
ents into thinking
that here is a free
baby sitting service.
Unfortunately, the
Beach Officer cannot
watch all beach users
and children sometimes
get into difficulties
and drown without
anyone noticing.
During the summer of
1964, Southern Ontario
Parks reported 237
lost children. Each of
these incidents re-
quired a search by
Department staff, and
While happy results
were obtained from the
searchers, every case
caused mental anguish
to the parents con-
cerned.
We stress, parents
are responsible for
their children while
visiting Provincial
Parks, and the child-
ren must have the
parents' personal
care and attention.
The Foregoing is
part of a report from
the Department of
Lands and Forests, in
which concern is ex-
pressed for the wel-
fare of young visitor
s, and rightly so,
say we.
Same applies on
our own local beach-
es where there is
no regular supervis-
ion.

Bayfield River Now Busier Scene
Bayfield harbor is starting to "perk up" with a great deal
more activity and a good number of small boats appearing at
the Boat Club for the summer season. It was expected there
would be a new influx over the holiday weekend when many of
the rear summer visitors would arrive for July.
