Staying with them are their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Pfaff, and their young daughter, of Toronto. The Rev. Douglas Smith, as- sistant rector of St. John's Church, Livonia, Mich., called at the Rectory on Friday after- noon. He is spending his vaca- tion with his family in the Lane 0' Pines area, north of the village. The Rev. E. J. B. Harrison was their dinner guest on Wednesday. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hovey were Mr. granddaughters, the Misses Linda and Sonia Leonard, of Willowdale, for a fortnight. Sonia returned home on Tues- day and Linda stayed until Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Major of Sarnia, called at the Rectory on Monday, enroute to visit friends in Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Rivers and family of London spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. N. Rivers. Miss Gladys Boag, from Buf- falo, New York, was the week- end guest of Miss Kruke. Mrs. Helen Cobb has as her guest, Mrs. Pearl Rumball, Preston. Mrs. V. Morton has returned to her summer cottage after attending the University Wo- men's Club convention, in Win- nipeg. It is with regret we report the death of Mrs. E. Smith. mother of Mrs. F. A. Clift, who passed away early last week. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Scot- chmer and children, Laura and Mark, of Galveston, Texas, spent the past week with his father, Mr. Fred Scotchmer; they left for home last Tues- day. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Guest and baby from Whitby, are staying at their lake shore road cot t age. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Beatty and family of Montreal, return- ed home on Saturday after spending their vacation with Mrs. Beatty's father, Mr. F. Scotchmer. Miss Ella McKay and her nieces. Maureen and Heather visited friends in the village on Saturday and dined at their former home, The Albion Hotel. Mr. a n d Mrs. Richard C. Moore have been at their sum- mer home, "Fairlawn" for the past two weeks. Their daugh- ter, Mrs. Norman Smith and son Richard, from Rheims, Ger- many, are vacationing with them. Also with them are their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moore Jr., of Detroit. Guests of the Moores on Tues- day and Wednesday were Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Card, Toronto. Mrs. Nelson Heard had her brother and his wife. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lawranson of Listowel as guests from Mon- day until Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mac- Kenzie, Brigden, visited Mrs. J. J. Richardson and his bro- ther, John MacKenzie on Thursday. Also visiting them were Mr. James Phinney, De- troit, and his daughter, Mrs. Arnold Crowell, Marshall, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Chat- terton, Beth and Cassie, also Miss Noreen Breesse, all of Michigan, were recent guests of Mrs. Bruce Menerey. Mr. and Mrs. Patterson and their two children of Stratford, were at their cottage this weekend. Mrs. James Fisher and Fr- ank, St. Agathe, were at their cottage last week, Mr. Fisher joined them for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. J. Rankin and family, London, are occupying the Armstrong cottage. Rev. and Mrs. Robert Car- son and Billy, Forest, were at their lakeshore cottage over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hend- rick and their two grandsons. of Birmingham, Michigan, were at their cottage for the week end. Mrs. Frank Bauer, Billy and Freddie, spent last week with Mrs. E. J. Bauer. Her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. J. Bauer and family, are her guests this week. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kirk- ham, London, and Mrs. John Langford, Comfort, Texas, sp- ent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ernmerson Heard. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. McEwen. who have been staying at their cottage, The Cedars, are sched- uled to fly to Scotland to visit their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George 011er- head, who are on leave from Ghana. Mr. and Mrs. McEwen will tour Scotland before re- turning home. Who says the pioneer spirit is dead? On Tuesday morning four Intrepid horsemen, Adam Flowers and two of his grand- children, Debbie and Kim, ac- companied by Dayle Sootchmer left on horseback by the north- ern trail, en route to Goderich where they camped overnight. Another young lady of our acquaintance, Miss Louise Mac- Vean, has just realized her heart's desire, a Shetland pony. who answers to the name of "Zuri" which, in Swahili means "handsome".
