EDITORIAL
By ART ELLIOTT
Read It Over
LOCAL SCUTTLEBUTT has it that a few local 411 citizens took the occasion to become a bit miffed on
reading an editorial in this column last week entitled
"High Hopes".
It was darkly hinted that some scorching letters
to the editor might be forthcoming, with the result
that the editorial ears would be pinned back in great
style. They would have been welcomed, of course, but
did not materialize.
On re-examining the editorial, we find nothing
in it to exercise a reasonable mind. There is nothing
in it which we would consider retracting.
It says what it was meant to say, without any
intention of miffing even the most sensitive soul.
The miffed ones evidently are fast readers. They
didn't undrstand what was said, even though the
wording is clear. Our advice to them is to read it
over—slowly, moving their lips, if it helps any.
Congratulations
BY EARLY afternoon Thursday it was apparent
that the directors of Bayfield Fall Fair had scored
another big success when ideal weather crowned their
industrious efforts. The fact that some of the district
farmers had to utilize the good weather for bean
harvesting may have cut attendance somewhat, but
by press time an enthusiastic crowd was on the
grounds, with more visitors coming from all direc-
tions.
The Bulletin regrets that owing to printing dead-
line requirements, details of the judging in the various
classes could not be included in this issue. It is plan-
ned to list the major winners in next week's issue.
Presstime was not too early to clearly see that
the directors are entitled to hearty congratulations
on the success of their annual show.
Together We'll Stand
THERE ARE a number of obvious ways in which
business in Bayfield can be bettered to the advantage
of merchants and public alike. It is hoped these will
become projects of the businessmen's association
which it appears will be formed here Tuesday night
when the businessmen of the village and immediate
area are to meet at the Town Hall.
There are a number of other problems which are
not quite so obvious, but no less in need of attention.
It is to be hoped these will be brought up for discus-
sion and some organized measures taken to deal with
them.
An informal poll of opinion among the business-
men indicates that there will be a group of active
workers on the job from here on in, and none too
soon, say we.
