Larry Henderson did 90 per- cent of the reporting, while Ab Douglas read an item or two, but generally just sat waiting for the 15 minutes to end. It finally did, and let's hope CTV gives Douglas an even break. He may go to ABC in New York too, and who could blame him. • • • Too bad the World Series lasted seven games. Four gam- es with broadcasters using ter- rible English and poor enuncia- ting was too much. The broad- casting industry should use on- ly qualified professional voic- es. Sport figures should be us- ed only for interviews. They are not announcers and should keep away from microphones. U.S. politicians were not ini- convention time. Here are three ways to improve them in 1968: Eliminate demonstrations, eli- minate the boring seconding speeches, and stop having the former political greats appear- ing on the rostrum. • • • Nomination for the biggest TV commercial joke for '64: the soap commercial where the announcer says "She's got it. He sees it." Enough said. • • • James Beard, the cooking expel t, will again tape shows in the CKCO-TV studios. He's visiting major TV centres throughout Canada. • • • CBC's "Festival" returns October 29th with a 60-minute concert featuring Sviatoslav Richter, the great Russian pianist.
