read by Mrs, Murray *followed
with the Meditation thought on
"Hope" given by Mrs. C. Rit-
chie.
Mrs. Harvey .Cralg officially
deelared the bazaar open. There
were guests present from the
other units. The ladies of the
17th and Boundary served lunch.
Mrs. Doug Fraser was a pat-
ient in Wingham Hospital for a
few days as a result of a farm
accident when her finger caught
in a grinder.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dunk spent
the weekend with their son David
and rare. Dunk and their family,
Darlene and David.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCall
and Susan of RR 1, Blyth visited
Saturday evening at the home 'of
Mr. and Mrs. Allan McCall. °
The Walton Public Library
will be open on Thursday Dec-
ember 23rd from 2-4 and Thurs-
day, December 30th from 2-4
instead of the usual Saturdays,
owing to the holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Lyddiatt of
Blyth visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Shortreed. Miss Carol
Shortreed of London also visited
at the same home for the week-
end.
Martin Bean, RR 3, Walton
was re-elected president at the
annual United Dairy Producers
Co-operative in Guelph on Tues-
day.
Mrs. Mervin Smith returned
home from the Seaforth Com-
munity Hospital last week fol-
lowing surgery. We hope she is
soon much improved.
Sunday dinner guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Ken Shortreed were:

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Smith and
family of Monkton, and Mrs.
'Louise Beuerman and family
of Goderich.

The Walton Unit d the U.C.W,
had their Christmas supper
meeting Wednesday evening in
the basement of puff's United
Church with 38 members pres-
ent and the losing group of the
Copper Contest in charge with
Mrs. Ron Bennet as leader. The
room was prettily decorated with
Christmas centrepieces for each
individual table which encircled
the ornamental Christmas tree
laden with gifts.
Grace was sung prior to sup-
per with Mrs. Ray Huether as
the pianist for the evening. Fol-
lowing the smorgasbord supper
the singing of several Christ-
mas carols was enjoyed.
Mrs. R. Bennett then gave
meditation iiYe are the light of
the world". The Scripture read-
ing from Luke was given by Mrs.
Jack McEwing, after which Mrs.
Bennett led in prayer, followed
by a reading of Kinds of Lights".
"Silent Night" was sung then.
Mrs. Allan McCall gave a read-
ing entitled "Come follow Me".
"0 Little Town of Bethlehem"
was sung followed by the Ben-
ediction given by Mrs. Bennett
to close • the devotion period.
Mrs. Don Achilles arranged
a balloon relay race which in-
volved the winning 'group of the
Copper Contest, followed by a
riddle passing contest. A col-
lecting clothes pin contest was
in progress for the entire even,
ing. At the conclusion, the prize
winner was Mrs. A. McCall.
The scriptures, prayers,
topics and lunch slips for the,
New Year were distributed by
Mrs. Emmerson Mitchell, the
president. New leaders for the
1972 Copper Contest were chosen
to be Mrs. Ray Huether and Mrs.
Nelson Marks. The Brussels Fair
Board are holding their banquet
in the Walton United Church with
the U.C.W. catering on January '
28th. Mrs. W. C.. Hackwell, the
secretary, passed out the Christ-
mas gifts for which each one
expressed their thanks.
Mrs. E. Mitchell extended
thanks to those in charge of the
evening preparations and also
thanked everyone for assisting
her as president throughout the
past year. The meeting closed
vVith Mrs. Mitchell offering
prayer.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Shortreed
visited on Friday afternoon with
Mrs. Lou Warwick, who is a
patient in wingham Hospital.
17TH AND BOUNDARY ' -
The 17th and Boundary held
their Christmas and annual Baz-
aar in the basement of Duff's
United Church on Wednesday aft-
ernoon.

Mrs. Wm. Murray giving the
