Cards were enjoyed. Father Phalen spoke on behalf of the Parish expressing hi s thanks for all Mr. Gibbons did for St. Augustine Parish and said , it was not a farewell party but just a gift to keep him warm in that cold country, Billie Kinahan presented a sweater to Mr. Gibbons who thanked everybody and said he would be back In the Spring if he didn't freeze. Mrs. John Foran and Mrs. Gordon Foran spent Thursday in Kitchener and picked up Frank Foran, a student at Guelph Uni- versity. They will visit Miss Jean Melady in Calgary. Miss Hilda Kennedy, London visited Mr. and• Mrs. Auguste Ducharme. MRS. D. L. CURTIS The sudden death occurred in" Wellesley Hospital, Toronfo on November 24th of Mary Marg- uerite Edmunds , the wife of Dr. David Lloyd Curtis of L'indsay. She was in her '72nd year. Born Fri Seaforth the daughter of the late William G. Edmunds and Elizabeth Reipiirs. Curtis attended school here and after graduating from the Seaforth Col- legiate and FaCulty of Educafion in Toronto taught school in Tor- onto for a number of years. Following her marriage to Dr. Curtis, they resided in Mar- mora for several years before moving to Lindsay. Mrs. Curtis is survived by her husband, and a son Dr. W. L. Curtis of Toronto and by three grandchildren. She is also, survived by two brothers, Dr. J. Reid Edmunds, Brantford and Arthur F. Edmunds, Barrie and by a sister, Mrs. Frank Kling, Seaforth. She was predeceased Mrs.' Peter Dunlop was ye- elected president of the United Church Women of Northside Church at the annual meeting Tuesday night. CARD PARTY AND SUPPER A card party and pot luck supper was held in the parish hall here on Wednesday even- ing. There were seventeen tables in play at the cards. The prize winners were Mrs. Edward Melady, Vincent Lane, Mrs. Ronald Murray and Walter Kros- kip, Dublin. The winner of the lucky chair prize was Mrs. Joseph Kale. Following the cards all enjoyed the pot luck supper. Former Resident Buys Actor's Home In California The residence of the late ..Arthur Shields, well known actor of both stage and screen, has been sold' by his widow, Laurie Shields, to Dr. and Paul M. ,Zemella. The residence is at 404 E. Padre St. Santa Bar- bara, California. Arthur Shields is a brother .to Barry Fitzgerald. . Dr. Zemella Is a doctor. of chiropractic^and his wife Dianne, is a registered nurse, a graduate of Hollywood Presbyterian Hos- pital School of Nursing, Los Angeles, California. She IS Presently a head nurse at St: Francis Hospital, Santa Barbara, California. The four units of UCW will Meet for a combined Christmas meeting to take the form of a pot-luck supper on December 7 at the church. Rev. M. E. CLEW Mrs. Helen C. Glew died in Seaforth Community Hospital on Tuesday following an illness of six months. She was 59. Born in Dashwood she was the daughter of the late Angus More and Emma Schroeder. She attended school in McKillop and was married in 1938. She_ is survived by three daughters, Carole, Mrs. K. R. Nicholas, Kitchener, Nancy,Mrs, Angelo Andreassi, Seaforth and Connie, Mrs. John Becker, Kit- chener and by one son, James C., Seaforth, She is also survived by ten grandchildren and by a brother Alexander (Sandy) of Florida. Funeral service will be held from Box ...fameral chapel on Thursday at 2 P.M. conducted by Rev. T. C. Mulholland of First Presbyterian Church. Tem- porary interment will follow in Pioneer Memorial Mausoleum with burial later in Maitland Cemetery.
