Mrs. Allan McCall
The Walton Unit met in the
basement of Duff's United Church
on Wednesday evening with 25
members present.
Mrs. Don Achilles opened the
devotions with the Call to Wor-
ship. Mrs. Achilles read the
Scripture from Revelations 23:
13-22. Mrs. Art Heard led in
prayer. A pbem "Touch of
Christ" was read by Mrs. Ach-
filet Mrs. Heard closed this
portion of the meeting with
prayer.
Mrs. Ron Bennett chose as
her Topic a paper on Col. John
McCrea, in keeping with Rem-
embrance Day. His home is still
kept as a museum in Guelph.
He wrote the poem ,,In Flan-
ders Fields". Mrs. Bennett
closed with a poem "What's the
Use".,
Mrs. Emmerson Mitchell was
in charge of the business. She
thanked everyone that had helped
with the Fowl Supper. Mrs. W.
C. Hackwell read minutes. Mrs.
Wm. Coutts reported for the
nominating committee bringing
in a proposed new slate of of-
ficers for 1972 as follows:
President, Mrs. N,elson Reid;
Vice-President, Mrs. Gerald
Watson; Secretary, Mrs. Howard
Hackwell; Supper Committee,
Mrs. Allan Searle, Mrs. Rollie
Achilles, Mrs. Fred Dunk and
Mrs. E. Mitchell; Pianist, Mrs.
Ray Huether; Quilt Committee;
Mrs. Bill Coutts and Mrs. Ralph
Traviss. The new prices were
given for quilting and binding
of quilts. Mrs. Herb Traviss
reported for the Regional meet-
ing held in Hayfield. The treas-
urer's report was given by Mrs.
Mac Sholdlce. The copper, con-
test leaders reported on their
year totals and Mrs. Jim Clark
was the winning side over Mrs.
Ron Bennett's side. The Christ-,
Mas party with a supper
will be held on Wednesday
evening, December 8
MISSION BAND
The Mission Band met in the
basement of the church on Sun-
day morning with an attendance
of 40. Doug Mitchell gave the
Call to Worship. Hymn 53 was
sung with Dianne Godkin as plan-
1st, followed by the Scripture
reading by Dianne Godkin. Terry
Smith led in prayer. All mem-
bers handed in their white gifts
to be given to the `Children's Aid
Society in Goderich. The secre-
tary's report was given by Joyce
McCallum and Pat McDonald gave
the treasurer's report, They are
reminded that their mite boxes
are to come to the December
meeting. They went to their
classes with their teachers,
Mrs. Wm. Roe, Mrs. Merton
Hackwell, Mrs. Ross Bennett,
Mrs. Mac Sholdice, assisted by
Debbie Wei.
LOST AND FOUND
The Lost and Found girl's -
club met on Tuesday evening,
The meeting was opened with
prayer by Mrs. Murray Smith.
Pla,as were made for a bake
sale and a party was discus-
sed. Laurel Dennis, Dianne God-
kin and Jane Leeming led in the
sing song.
EUCHRE PARTY
Seven tables were in play
at the progressive euchre on
Friday evening held in the Walton
Community Hall. Prize winners
were high lady: mrs, Jean Mil-
ler; low, Shirley Johnston; high
gent, Jim McDonald; low, Alvin
McDonald. Holder of lucky cup
was Mrs. Sadie McDonald.
Lunch was served by the fol-
lowing committee, Mrs. James
Nolan, Mrs. Alvin McDonald,
Mrs. H. .Williamson and Mrs.
N. Marks.
Mr.and Mrs. Rollie Achilles
Have arrived home afte'r spending
a week's holidays with the form-
er's sisterMrs. Margaret illurner
at Hearst.
Gary Bennett of London spent
the weekend at the home of his
parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Saun-
ders, Royal Oak, Mich. spent
a .-recent weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Allan Searle and family.
Dr. and Mrs. Brian Tray-
iss and Alisson of Kitchener
visited Mr. and Mrs. Herb Tray-
iss and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley
Jackson, Seaforth.
Mrs. Merton Hackwell was
teaching Grade 2 at Walton Pub-
lic School while Mrs. Pletsch,
Seaforth was home on sick leave.
Gerald Smith has accepted a
position at the Walton Feed Mill
owned by Herb Traviss,
Mrs. Emmerson Mitchell
showed her Cameo paintings at
the Hobby Fair held in the Atwood
Community Centre.
Miss Emma Shortreed of
Guelph spent the weekend at the
home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Shortreed and also
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Mack
Webster near Varna.
Visiting on Sunday with Mrs.
Walter Broadfoot was Mrs. Wil-
bur Turnbull of Brussels and
Mrs. Maude Leeming.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Ennis and
family of Whitby spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Doug
Ennis.

McKillop Sailors Brave November
The boat which is owned by Mr. Campbell and Mr. Whale and Dr. Glenn Oliver of London
• is based at Owen Sound during the summer. was brought from Owen Sound to Tobermory
and then on to Goderich where it was taken out of the water ready for winter storage. On Satur-
day the trio brought the boat from - Goderich to the Campbell farm where it will spend the winter.
The • crew said that despite the lateness of the year the weather wasn't too bad. Although it got
very cold Wednesday morning the weather could have been a lot worse. (Goderich Signal Star
