Mrs. Charles Douglas was
hostess for the November meet-
ing of the Women's Missionary
Society of Cromarty church and
Mrs. Grace Scott presided and
opened with a poem 'Sacrifice".
Tie offering was received and
wag, dedicated by Mrs. J. R. Jeff-
erson. The roll call-''Remem-
brance" was answered by 13
members. Mrs. Will Miller pre-
sented the topic "A Woman in
the Bible" and reviewed the book
of Esther.
The president, Mrs. M. Dow
conducted •business when. ar-
rangements were discussed for
the 'concert by a choir from Kit-
chenet next Wednesday. Mrs. Mc-
Kaig reported 39 cards, letters
and visits to the sick. "Prayers
Are Asked" from Glad Tidings
was read by Mrs. McKaig. Mrs.

A small demonstration was held in downtown Seaforth Wednesday, November 3, against the
Amchitka Nuclear experiment. Demonstrators armed with.placards denouncing the Nixon adminis-
tration and the planned tests blocked traffic momentarily and paraded at the main intersection of
the town, The protest failed to achieve desired results as the tests were carried out Saturday on

Reporting for the street com-
mittee Reeve Flannery said a
hoist was being installed on
the town truck ready for a snow
plow and that this would provide
back up equipment if the grader
plow developed trouble.
Drain work had been com-
pleted , he said and disciissions
had been held concerning Market
Street completion.
Council will ha've $2100 avail-
able for a winter works incentive
program. and Mayor Sills asked
members to consider how best
use could be made of this pro-
gram as well as a similar fed-
eral program.
A proposal by Seaforth Op-
timists concerning installation
of flood lights atRecreation Park
was approved in principal. Counc.
Cardno, who presented the
proposal said 'studies were under
way concerning grants that might
be available.

Gals met at the home of Mrs.
McLean when Judith Mickle made
cream puffs, and the filling was
made by JoAnne Van wieran.

Also discussed were plans for
observing the Society's 50th An-
niversary next year... Club men
and Society personnel got to-
gether to explore ways and means
of marking 50 years of service
in which many thousands of handi-
capped Ontario youngsters have
been aided, The Society started
out in 1922 with 10 clubs looking
after 36 children. Today, 230
affiliated clubs are now looking
after 14,500 children each year.

ren programs.

The November meeting of
Units 3 and 4 of Northside was
held in the church rooms with
27 members present. Mrs. Betty
Bach and Mrs. Cliff Broadfoot
were in charge of devotions. Mrs.
Wm. Ball spoke on The Ameri-
ca's" taken from the Study. Book
and Mrs. Thos. Wilbee conducted
the meeting.
