October 1t 5, at St. Andrew's Uni-
ted Church, Bayfield. Lists were #
given out for the Turkey Supper.
Grace was sung and lunch was
served by Mrs Don Fraser, Mrs.
Clarenge Martin and .the hostess.
RECEPTION FOR NEWLYWEDS
A reception and dance was
held in the Walton, Community
Hall on Friday evening to honor
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Shortreed
(nee Judy King).
Prior to lunch the 'happy
couple was called to the plat-
form when Larry Bolger read an
address of 'congratulations on
behalf of their neighbours and
friends. Gerald Smith presented
them with a gift .of money. Ken
made a reply thanking everyone.
Ian ' Wilbee and his orchestra
samlied the music for 'dancing
during the evening.
Rev. Warren Dickson of At-
wood was in the pulpit on Sunday
morning at Duff's United Church
when Rev. D. Doc ken was preacti-
ing anniversary services at
Donegal United Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mills, Mp
Walton accompanied Mr. and Mrs.
Herb, Bolger of Brussels last
week when they motored to
Cochrane and Thunder Bay and
toured the State of Michigan.
Mrs. Ken McDonald and Mrs.

senior training school in Clinton
last week. Anyone wishing to
take "Sewing with Knits" is to
get in touch with either one of
these ladies, as they plan to
have their first meeting next
Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Mel. McCut,
cheon, Karen and Wayne of
Brussels and Mr. and Mrs. Allan
McCall spent the Thanksgiving
weekend touring northern Ont-
ario through Algonquin Provin-
cial Park and taking in the,Bon-
nechere. Caves at .Eganville,
Ontario. The glorious colours of
autumn were most 'spectacular.

Church attended open house at
the Manse, Sunday.
Several members of the Can-
adian Forresters from Kinburn
attended the 12th Annual Wes-
tern Ontario Provincial Assem-
bly of Canadian.Forresters held
at the Victorian Inn, Stratford.
Huron District Council were
hosts for the event with a re-
ception Friday evening, Saturday
Assembly and Saturday evening
a banquet and dance with 300
delegates attending.

MISSION , BAND
The Mission Band met in the
basement of the church onSunday
morning with 29 in attendance.
Doug Mitchell-opened with the
call to worship, followed by a
hymn Kum Bay Ya_accompanied
by Debbie Wey with her guitar.
A film entitled Bernorda, a story
of a little boy in Africa was
shown. Joyce•McCallum read the
minutes and the treasurer's
report was given by Dianne Den-
nis. A special offering was taken
for UNICEF. The members are-
reminded to bring a white gift
to the next meeting, to be sent
to the Children's Aid Society,
and their mite boxes are to be
brought in to the December meet-
ing.
Classes were held with the
following teachers, Mrs. Merton
Hackwell, Mrs. Wm. Roe, Mrs.
Ross Bennett, and Mrs. Mac
Sholdice assisted by Debbie
Wey.
McKILLOP UNIT MEETING
The McKillop Unit Meeting
met at the home of Mrs. Roy
Williamson for their October
meeting on Monday evening. Mrs.
Harvey Craig opened the meet-
ing with the thought for the day.
Hymn 577 was sung followed by
''the business. The secretary,
Mrs. J. Bos read the minutes
of the last meeting and a thank
you card was read for a shower
gift. An invitation was received
from the Burns U.C.W. ladies
to attend their bazaar at Londes-
boro Hall on October 27th at
o'clOck. The treasurer's re-
port was given by Mrs. Cliff

10 members and there was one
visitor present. We are invited
to Mrs. Albert Clark's home

8TH AND 16TH UNIT
The 5th and 16th Unit met
at the home of Mrs. Jim McDon-
ald Monday evening when Mrs.
Rae Houston opened the meeting
with the call to worship. Psalm
734 in the Hymnary was read
responsively and Mrs. Houston
read a Thanksgiving Poem, fol-
lowed by prayer. The scripture
from Colossians Chapter 3,
verses 12-17 was read by Mrs.
Rae Houston.

contest were brought in and the
next meeting is to be held' in
the basement of the church on
Tuesday evening, Nov. 9, when
the losing side will provide -the
supper and entertainment for the
evening. Mrs. Bill Dolmage
gave an interesting and infor-
mative talk on "Inter-American
Reladons" as her topic for the
evening. Lunch was served by
Mrs. Don Dodds and Mrs. Ken
Thompson.

A motorist skidded off the
road and into a muddy ditch. He
tried in vain to shovel his way
out. Another_ motorist stopped
and after watching him with in-
terest for a few minutes called,
"Are you stuck in the mud?"
"Oh, no!" replied the exas-
perated digger, "my motor died
and I'm just digging a grave for
it."
