HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Huron Expositor, 1971-10-21, Page 90 0 • 4 poi 4 4 Second Section — SEAFORTH, ONTARIO, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21, 1971 — Pages 9 - 16 The second successful season of the Seaforth Ladies Softball League came to a close Friday night with the presentation of awards at ,ira banquet and dance held at the Seaforth Community Centre. • Elections for next years executive were also held with the successful dandidateS being, Sandra Johnston, President, Joan • Flannigan, vice-president, Katie Teall, secretary,-treasurer and Elaine Brazeau, newspaper reporter. Bonnie Bedard, Norah Eckert, Joan Pinder and Sandra Cole- man were Selected as captains for next season's teams. Wendy Tremeer, captain of the Swingers, was presented with a treply emblematic of play-off supremacy. The Swingers also won firs acethe season standings. - Sandra Johnston was awarded the most valuable player trophy while the.award for most improved player went to Kathleen Miller. The League decided to purchase individual trophies for each of the winners. In other business, the league made donation s to both the Seaforth Optimist Club and the Seaforth Lions Club in recognitioni' of the contribution oLthe two service organizations, in operating the recreational facilities used by the league. " An exhibition game has been arranged for 2 P.M. Sunday, October 24 at the Optimist Recreation Grounds between the former Winthrop Wingers and the Seaforth League Champion Swingefs. The Bouncei•s (middle photo) were (back row, left to right) Marion Pullman, Jean McKaig, Elgin Young (coach), Sandra Coleman (front row) Bonnie Bedard, Lorette Savauge , Joan Flannigan and Charlene Tyndall. Absent were Mary Ann Hau- wert, Carol Raeside and Rose Cook. The Slammers (bottom photo) were (back row, left to right) Lib Haynes, Sandra Johnston, Ruth Ann Dunlop, Don Kunder (coach),(front row) Joan Betties, Helen Garrick, Katie Teall and Helma Wright. Absent were Glenda Little, Linda Feeney and coach Bill Roberton. No photo is available of the Weepers. The team included Adeline Mclnally, Marie Little, Nora Eckert, Sib.
