Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Lawson returned home Tuesday after a Thanskgiving weekend conducted bus tour .of Northern Ontario including" the city of Sault Ste. Marie and the locks, Chas. Ermastinger Historic Home, and Agana Canyon. Rev, J. Ureiand Mrs. Stewart returned from a trip for a few days to Parry Sound and the Muskokas, where the massed col- oring of the maples on the hill sides was gorgeous and beyond description. Bright decorator colors of blue and green will again this year carry the invitation to "Please Look in 'the Book" on the, new telephone directories. Designed to encourage tele- phone users to check on tele-: phone listings in the directory -before calling directory' assist- ance, the books ,provide, a handy- "dictionary" on the telephone and its services, said Jim Scptt, Bell's manager for this akea. According to Mr. Scott, al- most 70 per cent of the calls to the directory' assistance op- erators last year were for num,- , hers already listed in the direc-. tory. A new look in introductory pages has been added this year. They're blue, highlighted with red print and they're stepped to give an index. 'It's a move to help the cu- tomer find' the information he or she requires more easily. Some examples are how to reach your telephone company, service call numbers, your local call- ing area and how to place long- distance calls. Fellowship Group Meets The Fireside Fellowship Group of First Presbyterian Church met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Smith on Tuesday evening, October 5th with a good attendance.„,. The president, William Brown, chaired -the meeting which opened with the singing of "Faith of Our Fathers" followed by the scripture reading by Ted. Cosford. Rev. Mulholland closed this part ,of the meeting with prayer after the singing of "Fight the Good Fight". In the absence of the secretary, Mrs. Brown took down the minutes. Miss Peg. Grieve gave_the fin- ancial report. The meeting con- firmed the purchase of new tapes for the Carillon bells. Mrs. Patterson reported on a special meeting held a few weeks ago. * Following the business period Mr. and Mrs. R. R. McKindsey showed pictures of their recent trip abroad which were very much enjoyed by everyone. Frank Kling thanked them for helping to make it such an enjoyable evening. William Brown thanked Mr. and Mrs. Smith for having the meeting in their home. Visitors during the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Wolfe were Officer and Mrs. Dick Wat- son and family, St. Thomas, Mr. Canadians mailing unsealed Christmas cards this year will have one rate for destinations in Canada and the United States, and' a choice of two rates for overseas points, the Post Office Department has announced. The rate for destinations in Canada and the United States is 6 cents. The cards must be un- sealed, and they travel by sur- face mail. For overseas destinations, the choice is between the Non-,- Priority (Surface/Airlfft) rate of 8 cents, and the Priority (Air Mail) rate of 12 cents. Non-Priority '(Surface/Air- lift) means that the mail may travel by surface,, but will be' airlifted part way or all the way through to destination where- ver possible (on a space avail- able basis). Priority (Air Mail) means that the mail travels by air right through to destination. In both cases, the cards must be unsealed.
