donated the C.N.I.B. and the
branch also will help other org-
anixations in canvassing for the
C.N,I.B. A thank you letter was
read from the Red Cross for a
donation of $230.00 collected in
the recent canvas. The -annual
money doll draw valued at $25.00
will be held. Teams will par-
ticipate at ,the bowling Tourna-
ment in Exeter October 27th.
The attendance prize was wog
by Mrs. Harry Horton and the
mystery prize by 'Mrs. Howard
Smale. Lunch was served includ-
ing an anniversary cake marking
the branch's 22nd birthday.
THANKSGIVING SERVICE
A large congregation attended
a special Thanksgiving Service
in Hensall United Church on
Sunday morning. Rev. Donald R.
Beck, minister, occupied his own
pulpit. For his sermon, he spoke
on Thanking God for Everything.
The guest soloist was Mr. Danny
James, His selection was the
Lord's Prayer. Mrs. J. Turk-
helm presided at the organ
consol.
CARMEL W.M.S.
The W.M,S. of Carmel Pres-
byterian Church met Tuesday
evening in the Sunday School
room. A good attendance 'of
members and visitors was pres-
ent. The roll call was answered
by a verse on Thanks.
Mrs. Geo. Walz and Mrs.
Agnes Madge were in charge of
devotions and gave a very im-
pressive Thanksgiving Service.
Mrs. John Love assistant sec-
retary, acting in place of the
regular secretary read the min-
utes. Mrs. R. A, Orr president,
was in charge of business.
Plans were made for a Fall
Thankoffering meeting on Nov-
ember 9th with the guest speaker
to be Miss Hazel McDonald of
Goderich, a retired missionary
from Kenya, Africa. Guests will
be members of the ladies groups
of Hensall United and Anglican
churches. The Arnold Circle and
Home Helpers of the Presby-
terian Church. After"the meeting
a gift was presented to Mrs.
Geo. Walz by Mrs. John Soldan
Father Stephen Eckert Coun-
cil, 'Knights of Columbus of Sea-
forth and district marked their
9th annual charter night on Sat-
urday evening in the Zurich Com-
munity Centre, the affair
included a banquet with 136 mem -
hers, friends and guests in atten-
dance and was followed by a
dance.
Grand Knight, Leo Hagan, was,
chairman and following Grace,
a toast to the, Queen was pro-
posed by him before the assembly
sat down to .a roast be supper,
catered to by the Catholic Wom-
en's League of St. Boniface
• Church, Zurich.
Following the banquet, Grand
Knight, Leo Hagan, extended
greetings to.all present and then

HENSALL LODGE
The regular meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge was held on Wed-
nesday evening with Noble Grand
Mrs. Jack Taylor presiding,
assisted by acting V.G. Mrs.
Margaret Ingram. There were
over.sixty Officers and members
and visitors present. The oc-
casion was the Installation of
Officers of Amber Lodge, ably
performed by Mrs. Gertrude
Rosier, D.D. President of Park-
hill and staff. The assembly chap-
lain in attendance was Mrs. Annie
Thompson. Other visitors were
present from Clinton, Seaforth
and Exeter Lodges.

staff for Work well done. Mrs.
Inez McEwen was reported ill
in the hospital and cards are to
be sent. After the meeting Mrs.
Mary Broadfoot entertained with
a number of piano selections.
UNIT:4
Mrs. James McAllister
opened the meeting of Unit 4
by reading Psalm 24 and unison
reading of 577. Mrs. Eric Luther
gave the devotional on Thanks-
giving by quoting verses 'of the
Psalms and passages of the New
Testament mentioning Thankful-
ness. She, led in a prayer of
Thankfulness and read a poem
honey, Recorder, and Mrs. Mah-
oney; Joe Regler, Trustee and
,'Mrs. Regier; Clayton Looby;Im-
mediate Past Grand Knight, and
Mrs. Looby; William E. Halla-
han, Advocate, and Mrs. Halla-

District Deputy, Joseph Tobin
and Grand Knight Ed Murray
spoke briefly bringing greetings
from the State Board and Kilroy
Council respectively.
Immediate Past Grand Knight,
Clayton Looby, thanked the ladies
and the Grand Knight closed the
banquet by announcing that on
May 6th,' 1972, the Father Ste-
phen Eckert Council will mark
the 10th anniversary of its foetid-
Pig and that plans are already
underway to mark the occasion.
He also pointed out to the mem-
bers that since election day falls
on the general meeting night of
the Council, the meefing has
been moved to Wednesday night,
October 20th. "
During the' dance period
prizes in a draw were awarded'
to 'Frank Kistner and Kenneth
Whetham, both of Dublin.' Roger
Quick and his orchestra supplied
the music,
on the same theme.
Mrs. Luther introduced the
speaker Mrs. C, Eacott of Lon-
don. Mrs. Eacott and her hus-
band were missionaries sent by
the Salvation Army to China for
thirty years until. they were
forced to leave by the Comu.e-
nist Government. She praised
the Chinese women and spoke
of their dedication to the Christ-
ian religion. She told 'of house-
keeping difficulties, the manner
of cooking, of Starting a clinic
for babies, of how thankful we
should be for our lovely homes.
Miss Greta Lammie favoured
with a piano solo. Mrs. Laird
Mickle' was accompanist for the
hymn. Letters of thanks were
received from Mrs. G. Lugo and
the Traqualr family. Lunch was
served by the hostesses Mrs.
A. Deeves and Mrs. Pearl Shad-
dick and the committee in charge.
Mr. and Mrs.' Paul Sims of
Exeter spent Thanksgiving with
relatives in North Bay. ,

fourth meeting of the Staffa Froot
Loops, held at the home of Mrs.
Charles Douglas. Twelve girls
answered the roll call- "List a
fruit that you can freeze, can or
dry at home". Nancy Allen gave
the secretary's report and
Lorraine Laing conducted the
business. Mrs. Douglas led a
talk on Fruit the Day Round and
Gail Harburn and Beth Hulley
gave reports, on currants and
cranberries.
