OFA has recommended to the
Provincial government for sev-
eral years the establishment of
a separate category and license
fee schedule for farm trucks.
This category would apply only
to trucks used by farmers for
their own use. Trucks for hire
would not be eligible.
Information from DBS states
farm trucks are empty 66% of
the time. The average annual
mileage is 3,700 miles and est-
imated capacity utilization is
24.9 % OFA President Gordon
Hill said, and continued, "OFA
believes farmers should pay only
6%—of--the--rate charged-trucks---
for hire which are fully loaded
a larger portion of the time and
are in constant use."
The OFA asks that the bene-
fits apply to a license for gross
`weights of over 5,000 pounds
so that Small trucks used mainly
for transportation are not includ-
ed.
Mr. Hill pointed out that far-
mers in B.C., Alberta, Saskat-
chewan, Manitoba, Quebec, New
Brunswick and Nova Scotia enjoy
a separate category and rate and
that without it Ontario farmers
have a competitive disadvantage.

A FEW BRIEF, NOTES
Just eiew brief notes and observations this week as
I try to gefback into touch after a weeks holidays.
With one series in the Industrial League quarter-
finals completed, things are going pretty well as pre-
dicted. The Teachers got by Genesco in two.straight
games and now must lay off until the end of the B series.
The Firemen, aided by a few errors by the Mechanics
and a do or die playoff attitude took the first game in
their series but the firemen came right back to even it up
last Thursday. Tonight's deciding game should be a real
thriller. Only one team can win, however, and I think
that the Teachers will be facing the orange sweaters of
the Mechanics next week -while the Firemen's red (what
else?) will be relegated to mothballs for the year. I won't
be surprised, however, if it is the other way around.
In any event, get out and support your favourites to-night.
The A Series stands at 2 0 for Mainstreet in the best
of five series against the Turf Club. Although it is a
best of five series it will probably be over at the conclusion
of the next game with, as I haVe said before, Mainstreet on
a top.
Congratulations to the Intermediate team are in order
for their fine showing at Goderich on the week end. They
made it by two teams pretty convincingly before running
up against the eventual tournament winners from Lambeth.
Even at that they managed to do what no other team at the
meet did, and that was to score against the powerful
Lambeth team. An ekcellent effort for a ,grdup that has
ge only been together for a month. Let's just wait for next
year.
By the way, the team has an exhibition game scheduled
for Sunday afternoon at the Optimist Rec. against the
same Lambeth team. It should be worthwhile.
And one last item.
There are _a couple of people about town who are
S interested in forming a minor soccer league similar to the
minor baseball program conducted during the summer. If
you are interested or have children interested give me a
call or drop a line and I'll see if I can get it ail together
and moving in the right direction. Seecer is growing in
popularity at an incredible rate and Seaforth should be in
on the ground floor. How about it?
